Trying to order 2020 JCW 2 door Hardtop, forum unfriendly

Hello and goodbye. Our first experience with MINI and this forum has been . . . non-responsive. We've been trying to order a 2020 JCW 2-door Hardtop for the last month, but the lack of information between 2019 and 2020 has been a problem. I joined this forum to ask some questions, but only my first post ever made it through. No post since then has shown up, so I assume I am being moderated for some reason.

Anyway, our current garage: BMW Z4, Mercedes CLK Cabrio, BMX X5, Maserati Gran Turismo Convertible, Ferrari 458 Spider. The MINI will fill a fun role for family and friends who visit. We wanted something sporty, but not too aggressive. Working with two local dealers and finalizing the order tomorrow. I only wish this forum could have been helpful in the ordering process.

Happy motoring!

Sorry Rob, but most of us, have not really looked at 2020 models. People here don't usually speak up, if they can not be helpful. This is a very active board.
You potential will be missed! You have many fine autos!
I hope you find what you are looking for!

Your question was posted in the middle of someone else's thread and that often means it will get lost. You might not have had the time served here to create a thread without a moderator signing off. Probably to block spam attempts. You should PM a moderator in that case to get your posts seen.

The information on new car ordering is mostly all on the dealership. If they aren't forthcoming it is probably because they usually don't have a clue what is going on. Many dealers are still drowning in 2019's and probably don't want to sell you a 2020 yet.

If we come to visit can we drive one of your other cars? Sounds like fun and SD is great place to visit or live in.

Sorry for what seemed to be a bad experience. We hope that you find a MINI that you desire. Happy to chat here later.

Welcome to the forum. As mentioned above, your first post was missed by most of us. The forum has a very active and diverse member base. There are fans and knowledgeable experts for each generation and model. I have found the members to be extremely friendly and helpful, however, none (that I am aware of) are on the MINI payroll or have any advance knowledge of what is coming out next from MINI beyond what we find through public sources. As a result, the group as a whole, has limited knowledge of the 2020s. They are just hitting the showroom and I personally have found extremely limited and conflicting information about the changes for 2020. I am in the the market for a new daily driver so I have been trying to find information as well.

The US MINI website does not appear to reflect the 2020 model and I suspect the majority of the sales people in the dealerships are also in the dark about the changes. As an example of the confusion, I was told by a dealer that all 2020 MINIs will have duel clutch automatics. Some people are saying that manuals will be available in the JCW Hardtop. Some people are seeing traditional automatics in 2020 JCWs. In a few weeks, the true story should be sorted out, however that does not help you and me.

The MINI dealership is probably your best source of information, however, their information may not be 100% correct for the next few weeks.

Good luck and come back when you get your new MINI. The forum should be a great resource for you in the future.

Hello...

Help should not be expected but welcomed, Should have contacted your local dealership in the first place if you require immediate assistance.

Anyway, since we are providing unsolicited information, I had a bluberry muffin for breakfast this morning.

and Goodbye...

TC - as one of our friends often says, if you don't have any pictures to share, it didn't happen. (or something like that)

Do you have any pictures of the blueberry muffin. It sound great. Did you heat it?

Wouldn't the dealer be a better place to answer your questions about a car you're going to buy from them?

I do agree that this forum is not nearly as active as all the other ones I am a member of but that's not really a fault of anyone on here.

Sounds like a troll, actually. That list of motors gives a couple of impressions for a start and neither of the ones in mind here are at all complimentary. Besides, complaining about not getting anecdotal information from the street about a vehicle that is just now hitting the street is presumptuous in the extreme.

If someone can't find the friendly on NAM, I would guess that they didn't even try.

(Deleted my previous response... I'm too new here to be snarky...)

There does indeed seem to be a glitch with your 2nd and 3rd post in the other thread.

That being said, what is the point in starting this snarky thread?
Why would one assume you are being moderated?

Ya' know what happens when you assume.

I read your first response. I agree. It is a shame the original poster did not filter his entitled posting assuming we were here to serve his needs with immediate response.

I also agree that the people on NAM are incredibly friendly and supportive. While I have not been on many forums, I could not imagine a more active forum being more valuable. The typical post gets 10 or so responses in a day or so with 2 to 3 spot-on solutions and a few creative options. What more could we want.
