Hello NAM! New R53 Owner Here!

Hello NAM users!

Just picked up a ‘06 Mini Cooper S 6MT with 77k mi.

I’m curious - are there any other ways to find out what options my car has? http://myminivin.com/ doesn’t work for me.

Anyway, here are some pictures of my new ride!!!!

Congratulations on the new ride. Try using another site to decode, or post up the last 7 of your VIN and someone will run it for you.

Thanks so much Oldboy Speedwell! I was just using the 2 sites suggested in the FAQ. I didn't know other BMW VIN decoder would work.

Man sucks that I don't have the sports package, premium package or LSD.... That's what I was hoping for. Do any of you know what were the options available for the car back then in 2006?

Will post pics once I get her all cleaned up.

Thank you so much Wayne!

Will post some pictures by next week. Any particular pictures I should take? I’ll definitely take pictures of the toggle switches.

My car only has 16” wheels and halogen headlamps. So I guess the sport package is out. But the seller said it has sport suspension...

If you go to this site: http://bimmer.work/
put in the last seven characters of your vin, it will tell you what your car came with. Post it here and we can tell you what it all means.
The pics should be all outside, dash inside, seats etc. There are many folk here in the gen 1 area, that can give you all the skinny on your 06 Mini Cooper S.
The gen 1 area can help you keep your Mini, in tip top shape and help you fix any problems you may not understand.
The first gen Mini Coopers, by BMW are enthusiast cars and are very popular, to mainly the old fart set, but also many younger drivers are seeing what we buy them for! They are street legal go-karts, that handle like monsters in the twisties!
Here is my 06 MCS JCW model:

I have owned many Minis' and still have three. I just can't shake the way they make me feel!

Wayne,

I entered the last 7 digits of my VIN per "Oldboy Speedwell"'s suggestion. But the website only lists each individual option and doesn't show any packages? Or is it because I don't have any packages installed LOL!

Here's a screenshot of my options per the website:

You really need to show the whole list, as this is only the option list.
Hey, it is an 06 MCS with a 6MT! This is all good!
You can add power and handling, as you can afford it.
There is plenty of help to see here and ask people who have done it!
06 was the best year for gen 1 Mini and the last year for the hatch. Verts went to 08.

Updated my previous post to include the standard equipment. I apologize - I thought the options section will specify the options of the car.

214 stability pac (uses ABS to help control car from push out in wet or dry roads)
228 is sport suspension option
385 these are light wheels package (better for handling)
481 sports seats (much better than stock)
534 the upgraded air con system
3AK good for an extra 10 hp ( silver stripes)
cruise control a nice thing for the long drives

these are good options, along with some others.
pics will help next!

Wayne,

Thanks so much for decoding it for me! I didn't know some optional equipment is listed in the "standard equipment" section. I thought those in the "std equipment" will be the same on all R53 across the board.

Where did you see cruise control? Is it the "COP control" 8SP?

Will post pics as soon as i can.

the 249 code indicates it has cruise control. it is the multi function steering wheel.

So if a R53 doesn't have the multi function steering wheel option, the steering wheel is just blank?

Yep!

It was actually something that I personally preferred because I've never been a fan of cruise or buttons and I was just sorta lucky that the car I ended up with was configured with the plain jane wheel --- the previous owner put on some 3M Di-Noc carbon and I liked the way it looked and kept it that way...

Hello NAM! New R53 Owner Here!-1i1fhtl.jpg

Your car looks like it had the Combo #1 Premium most likely.

All that stuff was broken down in a much easier to grasp manner on the original window sales sticker,
like for example here's a JCW that was pretty loaded:

Thanks for the reply Oldboy Speedwell!

I do have all those items in the combo #1 premium package! I wish the VIN decoder would just say that I have the premium package lol. Wish I had the sport package.. the 17” wheels and xenon headlights would be nice.

That steering wheel without the buttons looks really nice as well.

How much are the JCW wheels in the used market nowadays? The wheels I’m talking about are the one one Wayne’s beautiful blue Mini.

Is there any website that specifies all available wheel options for the R53 platform?

Here's one, but it's not R53 specific:
http://libraryofmotoring.info/facts/wheels/

Wish that they listed the weights as well too though.

That’s a great color combination. The silver roof was only available on first gen in 2006.

Thank you! That's great to hear. I was hoping for a color combo like the Mini's in the italian job movie LOL

Thanks a lot Troy @Oldboy Speedwell !

So based on the pictures, what options/extras do I have? From my short time researching, seems like I have the premium package (per your suggestion), quicksilver package, sport seats, leather and sport suspension. That's it right? No BT, heated seats, fog lights (was hoping for this), xenons,...
