My name is Jeff...Currently I live in Merritt Island, Florida, near the east coast close to Cocoa Beach!
I’m originally from St. Louis and been here a little more than 7 years.
New to the forum community, but not to the MINI Cooper!
Started with a brand new 2008 Mellow Yellow / Black Sunroof Cooper S 6spd (BumbleBee)(wife named it), but some financial issues forced me to let go of it...Sad times, for sure! Recently bought a 2006 Pepper White / Black Sunroof Cooper S Auto / paddleshift (Bogey) 120k miles and realize how much I love the Supercharged version vs. the Turbo I had before!
It has it’s quirks, and I suspect the previous owner (yes, 1 owner car) lost interest in showing some love! Recently replaced some leaky gaskets, the front fan assembly, plugs, filters, etc...Have a leaky oil pan gasket which will get attention as I get to the lower engine mount, as well as the upper mounts!
Suspension is next...Any thoughts on PowerFlex to replace the worn out rubber? Struts / shocks, wheel hubs, brakes...and then a new set of tires (which I already have)
You may think I’m crazy, but I paid next to nothing for the car, and like I said earlier, I love the car!
I’ll upload some pix as I get things done! Here I am with Bogey (and Bogey the Dog) Bogey likes to drive “Bogey” And so it begins... New Belt Tensioner and Idler Pulley Who knows when this would’ve broken completely... New Valve Cover gasket No love for these plugs!

Welcome I posted above an event that might interest you the Jacksonville group is putting together a drive and lunch with the Daytona group.
Also I too recently (some what) bought another MINI 2006 MCS to add to my fleet (now at 3 MINIs). I too am going through the car slowly and replacing parts that need service and other I just did not care for, currently that is the coilover suspension. The PowerFlex front lower control arm bushing are a great upgrade as that is common wear part on the 1st gen cars and is a well priced upgrade that last longer. Other PowerFlex bushings are a matter of preference, as some can make the ride a bit noisier or harder.
Brake options are extremely plentiful for the MINI from just a simple pad upgrade, to the 'poor man's' JCW kit and all the way up to 6 piston Big Brake Kits.
I will be happy to help and answer questions as I am sure amny others here will also.
BTW I am in Altamonte Springs so not terrible far from you.
Hey co0p3r!
Thanks for the info! Regarding the JAX event; do I need to join the FB page in order to get the dates? My parents live near JAX and would probably meet up with them as well...

I would sent a join request, the Jax group is the most active I have seen. I am in the Orlando area and I generally go to the Jax Events as they tend to be better
Congrats. This is like one of our "mini" restorations we have been doing as we see these higher mileage good cars just need some repairs and update to bring them back to life.
We only use and would highly recommend the Powerflex as they are the best bushings and will last the life of the car. We use them in every suspension rebuild we do. Also we offer them prepressed to make the install really easy for you.
For Struts the KONI FSDs are great to improve the ride, be reliable with lifetime warranty, and still give you performance when you throw it around.
For Brakes we use the EBC reds, good bite, low dust, and cost effective.
