New Owner in AR

Good afternoon. New here and to Mini's but not to cars. Have had a couple of previously modified cars and trucks. Just purchased my first mini 05 S 6spd with 74k on the clock. Looking forward to reading lots of info here and learning about this car.

Welcome to the Forum. Lots of great information here. Currently in the Dallas/Fort Worth area but my parents were from Arkadelphia and I was born in Stuttgart. Still have relatives in Hot Springs. Great, scenic place to drive a MINI in those mountains!

Welcome!
I was actually in Russellville prior to TN. Have fam in NE and NW Arkansas.
Love the pig trail...hate the pigs! Many of the roads from I-40 to Hwy 412/62 will be awesome w a mini and I hope to bring mine back to AR for some rides in the near future. The wife and I took the old Yamaha and the new Indian up and down many of those roads.
Enjoy!

not looking to get too crazy with it. Just thinking a pulley, plugs, exhaust mod just pretty basic stuff. Just torn between 15 and 17 percent pulley. Not sure on which to go with. Heard the 17 percent pushes the sc past it’s effective operating range and heat soaks the top mount and the only way to get the effectiveness from the 17 percent pulley is to upgrade to the GP top mount or cut stuff and go to a front mount.

Congrats and welcome. A 74k mile car is a good find and should make a good car. Hope we can help you with your parts and mods.

The truth is neither the "S" model or the GP intercooler is really effective in cooling down the air. I have repeatedly asked manufactures to come up with an answer for us, but our market share is too low for anyone of them to pick it up and design something that really works. Some say the recirculating hot water intercooler is better, but still not enough!
I see several with the 17% and some of them are not getting 15LBS, so other factors are involved. I don't think I would us the 2% crank pulley with the 17%. I know some here do use that set up and you should ask them about any problems/solutions to use it!

I was thinking just the 15% pulley would be sufficient as im not going to be tracking the car but like a spirited drive once in a while. Actually flying down to Spartanburg SC on friday to pick it up and drive it back home to NW Arkansas. Its all stock for now but that should change soon.

15% is great
If you are driving through Atlanta Friday you're welcome to just pick up parts at our shop and happy to take a quick look at the car for you.
