Newbie going to save a JCW

Bought a 2009 JCW today with some engine problems. Plan to use it as a training tool for my 17 yr old, with any luck and some help from this forum we will have it back on the road soon. (and some hard earned cash!).

Thanks!

Great, we always try to save them rather than let them become donor cars.

Nice to know I'm not the only saving a MINI. I brining back a 2008 MINI clubman S with a full restoration. Good luck with your father and son project.

On its way to her new home...

It’s new home for a few weeks

“Demo Day”

After a leak down test indicated exhaust, it was easily confirmed!

Wow, good luck. That's a great car and surely worth saving. I can't work on my cars like you can, but I love seeing someone like yourself bringing these MINIs back to life. A JCW Clubman is a great car. Please keep us posted

Wow, the valve has a serious vent!
The Clubman S is looking good and when you get it back to the living, it should be great fun!
Let your Kiddo get hands on! It will change him!
If it died from overheat, make sure to replace the coolant tank. (aluminum with factory cap, is a good choice as the plastic ones split at the seem and most people don't see it and continue to have overheat issues!
Make sure the intake tubes are not clogged with burnt oil! See walnut blast in the forums!
There is a ton of help here!
Good Luck!

Nice to see the rare sport aero kit on that R55 JCW. Pretty rare and the chocolate on chocolate is nice.

Congrats on the project. I have three (3) 2008’s in the driveway I’m rebuilding to put back on the road.
