After a few months of lurking for a while and debating whether or not I should join, and whether or not I will stick with my mini coop, I have suddenly found out i've absolutely fallen in love. Now I'm not sure if i could ever drive anything else. Its been a wild journey getting here but I unexpectedly found the car of my dreams and have had the best time driving her. My little mini is a r56 gen 2 2009 mini cooper base in chili red. The outside needs a tad bit of love but its been quite a story getting here so now its all upwards from here I'm always open to learn more about minis beyond what I have researched myself, and am open to any conversation or advice.
Hi and welcome to NAM!
Congrats on your Mini purchase!
It is manual or auto tranny?
Make sure to only use full synthetic oils in it!
It looks good and I also like the slick roof!

it’s an auto! My time frame didn’t really give me the chance to find a manual that I liked but I have to admit, she sure is a lot of fun even with an automatic.
Because it is a base model and has the CVT transmission, I would get a filter and synthetic auto trans oil (Red line is good oil) and service the trans. They are known to have issues when they get a bunch of miles on them.
Don't put this off! I think you will need 5 qts. and a pan gasket. Read up on how to do this!
It’s an R56 so no CVT, but it’s still a really good ideal to service the auto trans unless you know for sure it’s been done recently. If you don’t know the history I would do the filter/strainer and the fluid.
Like Wayne said, don’t put this off because it can get really expensive if you end up needing a new valve body or more.

hey! Thank you both for the tips on that I managed to read it just in time and got it done yesterday! It has likely saved me a ton of money in the long run like you said and I really didn’t have any idea of the history or if it’s ever been done!
