Hello all! Thanks for the add here. I live in South Carolina. I've been modding cars and bikes since I've been driving.
I have experience in tuning with HPT and SCTx4. Also setting up nitrous systems. I've mostly been into RWD with the occasional FWD. Mostly Japanese and American cars. Love manual transmission. Owned probably 30+ cars and bikes. Do most of my own work so I learn how it works and to save money for more mods.
Here to learn about the Mini Cooper.
My car is a 2009 Mello Yello JCW
Welcome. You are way ahead of the game. MINI has it's quirks, but for someone with obvious automotive mechanically skills it is just a matter of proper reference materials and reading about it on this site.
There are over 172,000 posts in the Gen2 Mod section, should be able to keep you busy. On the car, with that engine remember to change the oil every 5,000 miles and then change it every 5,000 miles. Chain guides been replaced?
Before you get ino too many mods, you need to understand the car and why it exists.
It is a monster handling go car, that is street legal. It will never be a super 1/4 0r 1/8 mile drag car, but what it will be, is a car that handles the twisties like nothing you have ever driven. To that end, suspension will be you best area to focus on.
First, do all important maintenance and understand how important it is to change the oil frequently and only use full synthetic oil. Also drain and fill the trans with synthetic oil (Like Redline MTL.
You did not mention the miles, but the wheel bearing / hub packs are easy to replace and any slop is not a good thing. (also any growling in them)
Suspension is key in these little cars and only imagination and wallet will be you limiting issue. Sway bars are super important and there are many good ones out there. Springs, struts, camber plates and tie brace.
For power increases, larger turbo is a easy thing along with injectors and tuning.
Just make sure to keep us posted on any upgrades you do!
Mainly, just enjoy what a fine driving little machine it is!
Don't think I mentioned it but my other current cars are a 2016 Mustang and a 1990 Miata. So, I like the twisties. And I have come to appreciate a good suspension. But I've probably owned 30+ cars that all required work. The Mustang they first new car I've ever owned besides a Scion tC that required no work because it's a Toyota.

Very detailed and clean Carfax with up to date work done. Other than the stripes that have some blemishes the car is in tip top shape and stock.
