Another new SoCal based mini owner

I've wanted one of these little cars for some time, but I've been soured to BMW because of an s1000RR (sport bike) fiasco, and vowed to not buy another BMW vehicle. BUT...buying "used" is another story. This is my retirement gift to myself.
I've been and still am a American automobile fan and have a "few" 1950's and 60's hot rods that I am building and do drive. But I've liked the original Mini's for a long time, and the current version's are cool too.

My car -
It's an 05, "S" Coupe/Hatchback. It's a JCW dealer conversion. I looked for some time with no luck as I had a specific list of things I wanted and things that I didn't want. I found this car when I was out of state and e-mailed the SoCal owner.
On one hand, I payed WAY too much for the car, on the other hand, If I were to order a "new" 2005 Mini, this car is about 95+% of what I would have ordered, including the aftermarket parts that have been added.
There are a few things I have ordered to make a few small changes, but overall, it'll pretty much stay like it is. This car will be my "second" daily driver. I hope it's good to me

Mike

Welcome to NAM.

A Gen1 JCW is a great "new used' car.

There is no value in being concerned about paying too much after-the-fact. If you had bought one cheaper and added what you wanted on it, you would have spent far more. Enjoy it and it will be money well spent.

I have been told that the R52/R53 first generation MINIs were Rover designed and therefore not BMWs.

Any pictures to share?

I didn't say I "was" concerned I don't believe. Just a comment of fact. In fact, I do recall saying something to the fact that it's most of what I would have ordered if I would have ordered one.

Thinking that BMW purchased 80% (controlling interest) of Rover in 1994 so our current MINIs are by a BMW controlled entity.
