Mini Vacuum Pump Replacement
Mini Vacuum Pump Replacement
I have been reading many threads and watching youtube videos of DIY vacuum pump replacements. Nothing I've seen has mentioned if the pump comes pre-oiled or if it should be oiled or primed. Does anyone know to what degree of lubrication it has when it arrives if any? I've ordered one for my 2007 Mini S Turbo Hatchback and will be installing it tomorrow hopefully. I damn sure don't want to burn a new one up. Thanks, Chuck
You don't normally have to post the same issue in two different sections here. Might not always be an instant response but there are a few of us that try to pay attention.
And welcome to NAM.

Comes pre-oiled a little bit. It will prime up once started.

Pulled my vacuum pump off as it was leaking oil and replaced the 3 O rings after cleaning. Installed and initially everything was great but second time I took it out my break pressure was gone at idle but fine at higher speeds? No breaking issues before taking off and replacing O rings. Any ideas? Time for a new pump?

We see these lock up and break timing chains and crash the motor. Much cheaper to install a new pump than rebuilding the head or possibly the motor.
