Hi Charlie, welcome to NAM and the ranks of R53 owners. I picked up mine less than a year ago and just love it. Please head over to our website where you will find a section devoted just to R53s, plus service, maintenance and upgrade information.

Any questions, please ask! She looks great!

Drive Hard. Drive Safe. Keep Grinning.

She's completely stock at the moment. Just finished the supercharger service, water pump, and tensioner service. 142k miles on the car, purchased from the original owner who didn't want to deal with the cost of maintaining the car anymore. It doesn't need much done in terms of repairs at this point. Spent the last 2 weeks taking care of that. Just need to figure out if this power steering leak is as simple as replacing a hose or if its the actual pump itself.

Not sure which wheels i'd want to throw on or suspension setup to choose yet. The ride on this mini is rougher than I'd want so i'd have to find a setup that lowers the ride height and feel comfortable on SoCal streets.

If you have run flats that's half the problem with the ride ditch them get regular tires and a decent plug kit

Welcome

Hi,

I'm Jeff and I'm a Miniaholic

Where in SoCal ?

Just finished my super service too ! You should have thrown a pulley on her while you had her tore apart. I went with a 15%. Now I wish I went with a 16%.

No getting around shitty city streets here !!! I have a M7 strut bar and defenders on my wish list to combat potholes. Lowering hers just gonna make her stiffer and a pain in the *** if she's gonna be a daily driver.
My suspension is stock with radials and she's stiff enough for spirited driving ! I could use her a lil stiffer on the drivers front but I could also afford to lose 20 lbs around my waist first !

Cheers on your NOS mini.

If you still have your stock crank pulley, change it to an ATI, either 2% or "stock" size, which is actually about .8%. The stock crank pulleys are known to fail and the ATI is often recommended as a replacement. You'll end up close to the equivalent of a 15.8 - 17% SC pulley depending on which you choose.

I was hoping to tackle that when I replaced the wheels since the set on the car are less than perfect.

I'm over in Eagle Rock, near Glendale. I probably should've thrown a pulley on since they're inexpensive, but I figure that would be further down the line after the I/H/E get installed. I dont mind tearing it back apart when its time to install one.

Probably looking to swap out the current suspension for a cup kit or coilovers from h&r. All the goodies will start rolling in after I finish getting through all the maintenance needed.

Hi and welcome to nam, Charlie.
There maybe a recall on your steering and if so, they replace the steering for free, look int this recall.

Yeah, that's been brought to my attention earlier this week. Thanks. I'll check with the dealership in the next few days.

Congrats on the R53. Nice choice on the black with the white top. a very Classy R53 color option. The Power steering extension campaign:
