Help deciding?
It's also missing the JCW emblem. Definitely not factory JCW, and if dealer-installed it's incomplete. Could be an awesome car, just no reason to think it's in any way JCW'd (or engine modded at all for that matter) until you get some engine pics.
Now that I think about it, wasn't the 2006 GP model rated for exactly 214hp? Might be where that number came from.
EDIT - yes GP was 214hp.

Car is 100% not a gp.
Wonder if he dyno's the car....
The 2005+ JCW kit was 210 BHP....
214 is not out of the realm of possibility with a a pulley and injectors with a custom tune...
For comparison I was at 200 WHP with stock exhaust and head on my 2005 "S"....so with a bit of math, that is about 220 BHP....
- just thinking the CL guy may have just googled the car and wrote down the first number he came across without realizing it was for a special edition.
It started out as a "JCW" which was about a+$8000 option.....so a higher used price....
He is trying the "pump and dump"...getting folks too look....and hoping to say "I didn't know" if caught....
I would tread carefully....
Any used car is "as is" unless you can show fraud....but generally not worth the effort to sue.
So buyer beware.
It might be a very nice car, and he is obviously proud of it...
But market determines price...and he is trying to push it upmarket.

A very special edition (only several hundred made it to the states) with upgraded suspension, engine, and aerodynamics. Like Zippy said, this certainly ain't one - they're very distinctive.
Excellent guide to the first generation models including the GP here:

Hmmmm....interesting. I'm now debating with myself about what to do next, drop the car and no longer pursue it because the owner is trying to get more than it's worth OR confront the owner and tell him that I don't think the car is exactly what he's marketing it as. Like the motoringfile article posted by HaltCatchFire said, "There will always be another Mini"
I wouldn't assume malicious intent - the variants can be confusing and if the "file:///C:/Users/stephen..." in the posting is anything to go by, this person may just not be tech-savvy and got the wrong HP number off the internet.
I've seen both sides in my search for my Mini - folks who swear it's stock when I can see the homemade CAI right there, and folks who swear their homemade CAI is getting them an extra 30HP
. Typically just a misunderstanding - get engine pics, verify any mods, pre-purchase inspection, usual due diligence stuff.
