Hey everyone,
Thought I would introduce myself. I just purchased a 2012 Midnight black "justa". Ive been driving MINI's for a while, my dad owns two (on NAM his handle is mini coop). Since I now have one to call my own, I thought I should become a member of the community. Im hoping to start modding next month, Ill be adding gold ASA AR1 RS's and a few more things. Ill keep everyone up to date. I look forward to meeting you all.
Great looking car. Black, black and black! I look forward to weekend motoring with you, going to Watkins Glen for opening day and the Vintage Grand Prix, and just doing everything MINI. You've been a great copilot and fellow motorer. I'm happy that your were able to accomplish you dream and own your own. Motor on buddy!

Black/Black mini always has a lot of potential! Great find. Look forward to seeing those mods as they get done. Grew up pretty near the Glen. Saw many SCCA, Can-Am and F-1 races there way back in the '60s when I was a kid. Lot's of great memories. I'm gonna have to go back there sometime.
Opening day we will get 100 MINI's on the track. Watkins Glen International just put down a new 12 million surface. The track was inspected this week by an international organization and it qualifies for everything except F1 racing. With just a few minor modifications it will qualify for F1 too. The global track inspector said it is one of the best if not "the best" track in America. Great to have this one hour away.
Use to take us only about 40-45 minutes to get to the Glen.
Charlie Whiting really likes Watkins Glen. It is definitely a world class track with a great history. Would be fun to see F1 back at the Glen. The thing is, where would all the people stay. Back in the days when I attended, some of the F1 drivers would end up staying with local's along Seneca Lake or in town. The family of one of my best friends from high school had a cottage on the lake and at least a couple of years hosted one or two of the drivers at their place in the mid to late '60s. That certainly wouldn't happen now.
Opening day is the 16th of April, and I'll be stuck down south the entire month. I would have loved taking part in that! Hope you post some pictures of the event here so we can see it!
They apparently have the issue of housing resolved as NASCAR is at WGI annually for the Cheese-it's Sprint Cup. It's a big event and the only one of its kind in NASCAR. All the bigs show and is won by the best known in NASCAR. So that doesn't appear to be an issue. Other good size cities are relatively close too - Corning, Elmira, Ithaca, Rochester etc. My son , the photographer, takes a lot of photos and I'm sure he will post many here.
