Hail fellow owners!

Just finally picked up my first Mini after many years of trying to convince the wifey that I should get one for the mid-life crisis mobile. Ended up with a perfect condition 2010 Mini Cooper S Mayfair edition. Car was originally purchased in Germany, which is proving to have some advantages and disadvantages. Love it already and have started lining up the purchases to make it handle and purrrrrr a little better
Have been reading for days now here on the site getting all the scoop on what to look for, tips you cant find elsewhere, and what I should expect in the future.
Happy driving!

I'm curious about the pluses and minuses of Euro import cars. Do tell!

For the positives, I have found from research and the local service leadership that there is a clight increase in the engine performance due to the different emissions regulations. The engine is the N14, and is still California emission approved, but a slight better boost performance (I'm told). Also, it is a unique beast here in the states!

Negatives, the DVD nav system that I have is from Europe. I have the European DVD from 2010, and some old TomTom 2014 update disks, but we cannot get the DVD system to work. I have the parts guys looking for a DVD that will load the North American GPS data. THey have "swapped over my Mini to a US model" which they have to do when import Minis/BMWs come from oversees, but we cannot seem to find any DVD disks that will work. I am out there looking myself for a set of disks (any year) to see if the system will even work here in the states. (anyone got a disk I can try? )

Everything else seems to be identical on this model. The car was pristine when I bought it. The service manager has said he has never seen an engine this age in such good condition. There is only a single scuff mark on the rear headrest that even lets you know that anyone used the car prior to me. And it has 80k miles on it. The former owner drove it a lot on the Autobahn supposedly.

Overall I am super excited I was able to buy this model and glad I looked for months for the "right one"
