Got my first Mini! 06 R53 S!

Intro post:

I finally joined the club! After a while of looking, and me being picky about what I want, I finally found my Mini. 06 S with 90k, chrono pack (yes!), xenons, pano roof, and more. The previous owner replaced the clutch, water pump, fans, control arms, and more...all within the last few months.

Now, the customizing begins. It's going in today for a black vinyl roof. Black wheels are coming soon, aero grill, and de-chroming everything I can.

Looking forward to my adventure with this little guy!

Welcome to the club!

If you don't mind me asking, about how much is the black vinyl roof going to cost you? Please post pictures after you get it done, I would love to see how it turns out.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! I've already started the modding by blacking out the mirror caps and side scuttles with plasti-dip, and the body line with vinyl from outmotoring. Headlight rings are next, then some new wheels and tires. I'm still on the fence, but I'm thinking something clean and simple like Rota Slipstreams (in black of course).

I'm also looking to remove the hood vinyl, though I'm not sure if there will be any sun damage underneath. If there is, the guy who did my roof said he can just do the same graphic in black.

They quoted me $300 tops for the roof and spoiler...though we unfortunately ran into the snag..the installer couldn't get the spoiler off! He tried all the tricks, and even searched the mini forums. Heat gun, floss, fishing line, and muscle...nada. So, instead of breaking any parts, he left it up to me to remove it somehow, and he'll finish the job later. Here's a few quick cell photos.

I actually really liked its color combo before. I've never seen dark silver with a light silver roof, mirrors, scoop and stripe. I think it looked really unique.

Congratulations. This may help if you remove the spoiler: http://www.minitorque.com/forum/f845...iler-how-7782/. Love our 06 R53

I've never had anything wrapped before but that sounds like a reasonable price. I'm also thinking about doing my roof in black. It's looking good so far Can't wait for the pictures with the spoiler done too.

Welcome and congrats on getting the last year of the R53 series, which, IMHO, is the best MINI of them all!

Yeah, the Mini in '06 is a winner for sure!

Thanks everyone! I did lots of research on here before my purchase, and it seemed like 05-06 was the way to go. I've had a few turbo cars in the past, but there's something about that supercharger whine!!

Quick update! Here's a photo with the vinyled roof, painted scuttles, mirrors, gas cap, and body line trim (still need to do the front section).

I've been putting a lot of thought into wheel options...it's between OZ Leggendas and NM rse05s. I think the OZs are winning though.

Another update: Wheels are on, plus a few other small details.

Looking fantastic, have you thought of the Aero Front End?

Nice work.

Those wheels are looking great! I was looking at these wheels as well but hadn't seen them on a mini. Might end up settling on some rota's but damn those do look good.

Eh, I don't think I'll be replacing the bumper. I don't want to go too crazy on the exterior, and I'm pretty damn content with how he looks now. All that's left is to remove the hood vinyl, and black out a few last parts.
