New Mini owner in search of advice..

Well for the last seven years I have been driving my 500hp 04 GTO but could no longer afford the gas mileage as I work six days a week and drive 20+miles one way to work and gas was killing me having to fill up every six days.

I found a 2009 Mini Clubman S for sale and was able to work a deal out on it and this thing just sips fuel v.s my GTO which drank it. I started building hot rods with my father as a young kid and from that point it has been cars 24/7 for me, but imports I really don't have a ton of experience in.

My past cars I really don't have any self control when it comes to modding them and it gets out of control, but with this car I've convinced myself to show restraint. I've allowed myself to lower the car and put a set of rims on it and do some appearance mods and just have a great car that gets great mileage.

So I look forward to learning more about the vehicle and suggestion on mods.

This could be your lucky day, Evolve's running a group buy on this site. How does approx an extra 30 HP and 45 ft/lb torque sound from a stock car. And here's the kicker people report improved fuel economy with their tunes yeah I thought you'd like that.

Have a look at the group buy thread by Evolve there's heaps of information there with members asking and answering questions. You should see it pop up on nam live quite a bit it's pretty active.

I think you've picked the wrong car if you think you're gonna show restraint with the mods!!! Mods seem to be a way of life for most Mini owners. She looks nice, enjoy!

Welcome to NAM, Johnny Bravo and congrats on your first MINI purchase. Everyone will tell you that MINIs have their quirks, so get use to the idea. You'll find plenty of information on the threads here at NAM regarding mods. I think ColaTownMini put it best, you might have picked the wrong car. Thanks for the pic right up front. We love pics here at NAM, so when those mods start happening, don't forget the pics. Happy motoring and please don't forget to wave.

Shhhhhhhhhh don't say that, I honestly have NO self control when I mod cars and am really doing my best to say I'm not going mod crazy on this one like I always do. I was honestly just going to install coilovers and wheels and now I'm like well since I'm in there I might as well do swaybars, and then I just thought a FMIC would be cool looking and functional and then was like well if I do that I might as well look at a downpipe...etc, etc, etc.

This is SO not good because I'm already loosing my internal non modification battle.

yea seriously. I've never been one to add a bunch of mods to the car, but my clubman is definitely giving me the itch!

Resistance is futile. I bought my S three years ago with no plans to modify the car other than window tint and custom stripe. You can see from my sig that the idea didn't last long hahaha
