New here and to Minis

Three years out of college and I finally decided it was time to own my own car, (tough decision when you live and work in Chicago). Guess what I went with!

I'm now the proud owner of a 2006 Cooper S and am loving it so far. Thinking I'll be keeping it pretty stock for now, but the right-hand side of the stock muffler has rusted through a layer so I'll prolly be upgrading that shortly.

I'm just really glad to join such an awesome community!

Congrats on getting a MINI gotdibbs and welcome to the NAMily!

WOW another guy from Chi-town! Maybe you need to hook-up with the folks in this thread:

Anyway, thanks for posting the pic of your new baby but your brothers and sisters here on NAM would love to see more... so why not post-up some more pics and share the love, cause we love pics... yes we do!

May all your miles be filled with smiles as you and your MINI motor together!

Motor On!

Welcome to NAM & the world of MINIs! The S is a great choice for darting in & out of traffic on LSD or the Eisenhower.

Just fair warning: I was able to keep mine stock for maybe two years, but when the modding bug bites, it bites hard! You won't be stock for long, just sayin'

I know that money can be tight immediately outta college, and Chicago can be spendy depending on where you live. But, if you have some $$ to upgrade the exhaust, take a look at (and listen to) the Invidia N1. It's cheaper than a Militek or Stratmosphere but still has a great note, and the burble & pop of the R53 is amplified quite nicely.

Drive 'er in good health!

College

Congrats!

What college if I might ask and major? I went to Lewis University near Naperville and majored in Accounting.

I am a little on the old side but when I was there I drove a Nissan 200SX. Not sure if many remember that car? Dating myself but 1986.

I am not disappointed but new to Mini myself. Enjoying driving again on the long commutes in Atlanta. Forgot about rust as we don't have those issues here.

Hi I just got a new 2013 mini countryman s in cosmic blue. Finally upgraded from my Honda accord. I have it as stock for now. But the ride is pretty good, especially where i came from. I'm a little tight on cash, but definitely interested in getting some upgrades, although not sure where to begin. Any suggestions?

Oh and I have been waving to some mini owners, though none have waved back at me... Or they look at me strangely, maybe it's a southern Cali thing?

EEKS! Can be confusing, Braminator. Here are some examples:

I washed the car today.
I had a wonderful birthday dinner with friends.

OK Bram I see your point.

I guess what I was trying to point out was that Mr. T had no clue as to why you had used the "Eek' emote ( ) and I also was confused as to why you used it too.

Oh well, all's well that ends well... We can agree to smile/laugh on this one!
