Hello from Down Under
Hello from Down Under
Hi everyone,
I am a new (to me) owner of a 2008 FJCW MINI Hatch. Being a second hand car, it is great to search these forums for information, and advice.
I live just north of Cairns in tropical far north Queensland, and there are great roads to zip around on in my new MINI.
My other car is a Land Rover 110 Defender, hence the user name (it is easier for me to keep consistent)
Cheers,
Ken

Funny that MINI wave, I have a Land Rover Defender, and we all wave to each other when we pass. I have had the MINI for a month now, and not one wave in return!!
There are at least a dozen near me in the small town where I live
Maybe will get a wave soon.
Cheers,
Ken

I'm in the land of OZ as well but a kiwi, down south in Victoria had the mini for 2 years used to get waves but not anymore. Maybe the mini owners are bitter about failed chain tensioner, carbon buildup and over charging dealerships.
Welcome Ken to the NAMily and congrats on getting a MINI! So glad to have you aboard!
Nice to hear that you have some great roads to motor upon.
Btw, you have some great road circuits in your country. I loved the Tasman Series and enjoy watching Aussie V8 Supercars (Jamie Whincup is the man... I try to watch the series whenever I can here in the States, especially the Bathurst 1000) Tell me, did they ever resurrect Lakeside Park or is it still unused?
Well I digress... Best of luck mate and may your road always be filled with many a twisty turn for you and your MINI to conquer!
Motor On!

Yes there are some great road circuits here. I have been to Bathhurst, and the TV does not show how steep Mt Panorama is! Truly a great race. More enjoyable since they have limited the crowd to 1 slab (case) of beer per person a day for the event
Not just an excuse to get pissed (drunk), but people will actually watch the race!Phillip Island circuit is also great. Have had my BMW K1200 around there several times, and it is a fun circuit.
Not sure about Lakeside Park, but Albert Park is where the F1 is held in Melbourne.
Cheers,
Ken
