Clear "car bra" decal, splash guards, and winter driving
Hi,
I'm new to NAM, new to MINIs (previously a loyal Toyota buyer), and I bought a 2013 MINI Countryman All4 S. I'm wondering if it's worth investing in a clear "car bra" front wrap to protect the front from bug and stone damage. I'm also wondering if I should invest in splash guards (aka mud flaps) for behind the wheels. Finally, what can you tell me about how the All4 handles in snow? My previous vehicle was a Rav4 that handled well in snow and pooling rain. Thanks for your comments.

I went ahead and purchased the XPEL clear bra for my car on the recommendation of several on here. I had never heard of them before, but they seem to be a pretty highly rated product. I was able to get mine installed for around $550 which seemed to be good deal.
I've had the 3M clear bra on my 2010 Cabrio S since a week after I took delivery, and have been very happy with it. We have a lot of gravel on the roads, and after 3 1/2 years there are still no dents or dings on the bonnet or bumper. My only ding is on the chrome windshield trim from a stone hit (where there obviously was no clear bra). Front bumper and hood look like the day I took delivery. Was about $500 installed by an independent guy who did it in my own garage.
Likewise, the mud flaps probably help keep some stones and grit from getting tossed onto the doors and rear quarter panel/rear bumper. But the MINI OEM flaps are quite small, and don't offer as much protection as I would have expected for the cost. I think they look ok, so it's more a matter of your personal preference.
Don't have an All-4 and I put the convertible away drive after the 1st snow to avoid the salt spread on our roads, so can't help on the handling. But our 2 other cars are AWD and I wouldn't ever consider a non-AWD drive car for winter driving in the Midwest.
Hope you enjoy your new MINI, and welcome to the community!
