Hello from Texas~
Hello from Texas~
Hi all~
My name is Kristyn and I have a 2006 MCS in Hyper Blue.
I've had her since Dec 2010 and she's teaching me how to be a mechanic.
My Mini has seen lots of places. Originally from Florida and ended up in Illinois (where I got her). Sight saw a bunch of other states and now we're stationed in lovely *cough* Texas about 2 hours away from civilization. *cough* I mean Austin.
Not my first post on the forums but I never did make a into Hi post.
So tada. HI EVERYONE~

WayMotorWorks - I always wondered why I had a nice looking hood stripe that wasn't like any other in my area. Previous owner must've took everything else off. Hah. Thanks!
lai8869 - I just recently joined the Austin Mini Cooper Car Club.
Haven't been to any meet ups yet though.
You apart of that one?
CR&PW&JB- I'm not in but my husband is. He's active Army.
I'm a Navy brat.

If you are in Killeen, there is a small MINI club up in Waco, Heart Of Texas Mini Cooper Car Club.
If you are in San Antonio, the dealership (MINI of San Antonio) puts on great fun drives every couple of months (should be one coming up in August).
Welcome to Texas and the forum!
I hope you discover the lovely part in whatever part of Texas you're in. It's definitely a state made for road trips and discovering small town charms.
Big cities like Houston, San Antonio, and DFW have much to offer.
Austin is great, except for the unbearable traffic and, occasionally, the unbearable Austinauts.
Again, Welcome to Texas!

pmsummer - Killeen unfortunately.
I did see the one for Waco but it seemed fairly small.
I liked how the Austin one seemed to do more.
(Plus more people.)
Quesera - There's nothing lovely here. Lol.
I love driving but hate all the road construction.
All the highways to get to Waco or Austin are being worked on which is terrible.

pmsummer - Sweet. Thanks.
Mike02MCS - Been here since October and I can't stand it. I'm a big city girl though.

There are quite a bit of Mini's here. Which did surprise me a bit.
The lack of shops to work on Mini's is quite annoying though.
There's only 2 shops so far that I've found that will do the work I need done.
Somehow the S model scares everyone.

I hope you've checked out the MetroplexMINI club. The most active club in the state by far, and covering a wide geographic area. They're heading up a statewide-invite MINI gathering next January in Waco. They also have a DIY day every month at MINI of Dallas (advice, lifts, etc.).
Check Temple auto shops (if you haven't). There's a long history of European cars there (one of Texas' first post-war Mercedes dealers was there... lots of doctors). Maybe a good shop still there.
I'm surprised Eurotech in Killeen won't/can't help you.
Those are mainly 2-lane, 70 mph State Highways, nice and smooth and rolling, perfect for a leisurely but spirited drive FAR removed from I-35. Hamilton, Meridian, and Lampasas are neat towns.

Haven't yet but will now! I honestly just did a quick search for Texas car clubs. Saw a few that looked fairly small. The Austin one seemed the biggest out the few I did check out.
I actually just learned of Eurotech about a week ago. They can fix my problem but I'm over in Copperas Cove and the Mini can barely make it a mile up the road without giving up. I'm hoping once I fix the crank pulley it'll make it over there to get the waterpump done. Already towed once. Was not a pretty penny.
