Countryman ALL4 Expectant Parent

I just received word that my Cooper S Countryman ALL4 is going to be painted tomorrow, May 13th. This is my first Mini, and it's exciting. I was originally told expected delivery the last week of June/first week of July, but now I'm hoping it's a bit sooner. Seems like their ahead of schedule? I ordered the car a little over two weeks ago.

Cosmic Blue; Cold Weather and Deluxe 2 packages.

Depends. As someone who went through the seemingly endless wait last autumn, it can take a good while for the vehicle to get from Austria to your dealer:
  • Takes a few days to transport to Bremerhaven by train
  • Wait 2-10 days to get on a ship
  • Transit across the Atlantic. If your POE is on the west cost, that adds another 10-14 days of transit time.
  • Processing at the VDC
  • Wait for truck to your dealer
  • Transit time from VDC to dealer
My car was completed the second week of September and by the time it took its trip through the Panama canal and made its way from Port Hueneme to the Rockies, it was the last week of October.

Not looking to burst your bubble, only to temper your expectations. The wait can be excruciating but it culminates in a majorly fun ride. I passed the time researching window tints, choosing accessories, and tracking my car's progress.

Enjoy the ride!

Welcome to NAM and congrats on your new MINI. Waiting is the worst part of the journey. It will be shorter than you think and plenty of information to catch up on here on the NAM forums.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I'm hoping it doesn't go to the west coast since I'm in upstate NY. I believe the port of entry near me is Jersey City? That would speed things up a bit.

Looking forward to the ride... I've been a long time Honda driver, and my Hondas have been incredibly reliable. I hope the Mini is as trouble free. I just felt like something different, and I think I'm getting that!

Saratoga Springs, NY. Lots of great places to drive, including my 40 minute drive to work on country roads...

Nice! I live in Chestertown and work in Lake George. I know all about the 40 minute drive - I do it everyday too.

This time (my Countryman S was my third MINI) I had both amazing schedule breaks AND delays. My car went into production about 6 hours after ordering (!) but then sat at the docks for three weeks. Then made scheduled headway to Panama, then lost two days in the Canal, then gained one back on the way up the Pacific Coast to Port Hueneme. It left VDC about a day later than I estimated, but was available ultimately within a few days of my original estimate. So it all worked out. HA!

The dealer just told me it was on board a ship and would arrive in NJ on the 30th, then a couple of days to the dealer. So maybe next week.

She said she couldn't tell what ship or shipping line it was on though, which from all the discussion here seems a bit strange. The owner's lounge still lists it as "awaiting transport".

So all-in-all it looks like it will be one month from order to dealer...

It's strange when the customer know more than the MA selling the vehicle.

You are on the Undine with me! It's on the WW line. Just left Halifax yesterday.

This one?

BREMERHAVEN 15/05/2013 NEW YORK, NY 30/05/2013 UNDINE CA320-UND

I wonder why my MA didn't know this, or if she didn't bother to look...

That's the one! It docked early this morning. Should be at the VDC for a couple days then to the dealer.

Not when the customer is a NAM geek.

So now my MA just emailed me that the car is NOT on the Undine that arrived 5/30, but on the Asian King which is due to arrive 6/13. Oh well, seems she's been a bit confused...as well as was my owners lounge report!

sigh..........
