Having just retired my wife decided that after 13 years I should get something "safer" than the Miata she got me for my 50th birthday. This finally replaced the MGBGT I had been driving for 14 years under the pretense of restoring it someday. She suggested a Mini and I couldn't agree more. I'm looking at used early models, unfortunately I drove an S after driving a non supercharged....well that was a dumb move, the hook is set and I wonder what I should watch out for? Any input will be appreciated. We live in southern Oregon so I will be driving in the snow. Thanks ahead, Mike

If you are after the first gen MINI (r53) s model I recommend looking for 2006 model year. I drove that one. Most stable and refined of the first gens.

If I was buying used now, I'd get another 06 R53. The best of the first generation.

Should have stayed with the MGBGT. Actually, my mini is replacing my MGBGT. Still Love that car!
