New Mini owner! 2002 S...

Hey Folks,

New owner here! Approximately 6 hours new

Got tired of driving my Kia Rio and decided to upgrade something neater and sportier.

After leaving the Toyota Mr2 scene a few years ago, it was time to get into a cult car again.

I'm in Eastern PA, and look forward to meeting other owners and meets.

I'll be actively pursuing a roof rack system for my bikes & cargo...

Also have an issue with the drivers side window making a "scraping" noise which sounds like metal on glass when putting it up. I haven't inspected yet, but there is no scratching on the window (yet anyway)...

If anyone reading this post has any "checkered" add-on's they want to part with shoot me a PM. Looking to checker the mirrors and maybe more?

Photos of the car below

02' S model, 98k, loaded... po powdercoated wheels black, tinted rear lenses, installed intake...

A thing of beauty that is, the car and the trading in of the Kia rio. Anyway, welcome and enjoy a spot of motoring fun!

Awesome! I also just sold my Kia Rio5, and bought a MINI - albeit a 2006 justa. Soooo much better than the Rio

I think you will find this forum to be much more useful than the Rio subforum on kia-forums.com

I definitely never got into the rio forums.

I just realized that rio's are not forum cars. LOL

Still have it as well. If anyone is interested in an 06 rio w/ 100k.

The Rio was actually a great car. Very reliable and fairly fun to drive in the manual transmission variety.

The window "scraping" is your window regulator. I just replaced my passenger side window regulator (new one came with the car, bonus!). When hubby removed the old one, we found the cable was getting eaten by the motor. Not a huge process, but here's the walk-through we used. Took us 2 hours. My window had actually stopped all movement without the assistance of your hands lol. You're lucky yours still moves

Oh, and I LOVE the color combo! When I bought my '03 in March, it also had 98k Have a super fun time here, and with the MINI :D

Fantastic.... I actually found out that the sound changed with silicone... I'm gonna spray more and hope for the best. If not, looks like an excellent write-up.
