Happy to be a new Mini Owner!
Happy to be a new Mini Owner! (pics added)
Howdy -- as of St. Patrick's Day, I've been the new owner of a previously enjoyed '05 R53 JCW in British racing green with a white roof.
The car was a bit of surprise to me, as my wife is a bit of a chronic car shopper who decided that it was time to start shopping for a summer car. Originally she was looking at a pepper white R50, but friendly salesman steered her to JCW -- when she came home with the BRG Cooper for an extended test drive over the weekend I was sold.
This is my first "fun" car and I couldn't be more pleased -- I'm a serial enthusiast who's had long time involvement with sailing, skiing, & bicycles. Always had the urge to be a bit more automotive, and this certainly fits the bill.
I've already used the NAM to answer countless questions by searching past threads. While I haven't done any serious mods or upgrades yet, I have been fiddling with some aesthetics to make the car look "right" to me -- adding bonnet stripes, white mirror covers, custom Euro front plate, and a iPhone jack retro fit into the factory stereo.
I'm in Traverse City, Michigan, which is a lovely place to do a bit of touring -- especially out in neighboring Leelanau County. I believe there's been a organized tour up to these parts by the Michigan Mini Club, as well as there being an active Traverse City Cooper Club. (Not too shabby for a little town of 20k or so).
Anyhoo, once the sun comes out and the Mini looks just like I want it to, I'll be happy to post some photos.
Cheers, Jordan

Loving the excitement!! Your car looks GOOD in green my friend. I'm from the Troy area here in the concrete jungle of Metro Detroit. I am jealous of all the nice roads you guys have up there in Traverse!! you're right, it's a really nice place to drive.
