...on what turned out to be an eventful President's Day, my wife and I headed down to Ralph Schomp Mini in the Denver area to test drive a new Cooper S. We had specced out what we wanted online, and were only taking the drive to see how it handled on Denver roads when, more often than not, you're stuck driving behind SUVs of all shapes and sizes. Well, at least that's what we thought.

Turns out the car we tested had most of what we wanted (cold weather package, sunroof), and we were pretty much hooked. We completed the purchase the next morning, and we drove off the lot as proud owners of a Chili Red 2012 Cooper S.

(We had gotten the itch last April in France when we were given a Mini as a rental. Had no idea we'd get one, but we were offered a Mini "Bay Em Vay," as they called it, and we had a blast tooling around the French countryside for a few days. Deferred the itch for a few months, but finally scratched it a few weeks ago.)

We've already joined the local club (MINI5280), and we're looking forward to going for a drive this weekend.
