Possible (very) new MINI ownere here in NH

Hi all!

Looking around for a decent used MINI to put to DD usage, though my $10K limit is severely limiting my search.

I'm a Jeeper at heart, currently DDing a 99 TJ on 2.5" lift and 32s, mods are as addictive with them as with MINIs.

Fred
btw - scf is Second Chance Farm. If I were to put little stickies of animals/people on the back of my Jeep like some do...I couldn't see a damned thing!!

I'm a former jeep guy as well

Though I was more found of XJs and full size jeeps. Finding a mini in that price range is going to be tough but you should be able to do it with one of the last gen models. Make sure you get the manual, the old CVT had serious issues.

Hello from a fellow NH resident!! Have you looked on Craigslist? Lots of Mini's for sale on there. Good luck with your search.

There are days I miss my old TJ... MINI's are extremely fun to drive! Good luck on finding one soon! 10k isn't a bad budget for a used Justa or MCS. Try looking at nearby cities' Craigslists. You'll find some good deals.

They are around...but get snatched up by a few folks who speclize in mini's and resell them...
try a local/regional mini board too...massmotoringclub.com sometimes has cars posted from members giving folks a first shot at cars with known histories...
minis can have very $$ issues...be warey of a low price...sometimes it is for a reason...if you are a jeep person, you are willing to do most stuff diy, so that could help lots..
Motoringfile.com has a gen1 mini guide...it it refered to with links in numerous posts...will tell you changes/issues year by year....get to know it so you know what things too look for year by year for issues....as said before, stsy away from the cvt versions...about a $7000 fix...unless you are very adventerous in getting a car for near scrap value and fixing it...

The 04 is a better deal...
But it does have a replacement flywheel...single mass...about $600 cheaper than the oem, but adds nvh...can inprove throttle response/chatter if lightweight.
make sure there is no sound like rattling chains from the engine compartment...the sound is indictice of the water pump pto on the sc running dry...fix is a new/rebult sc...$800 for parts, plus lots of labour...

Drove the JCW today. What a blast!! Has a few issues that need to be attended to, including a rear hatch that wont open and an abs light on. Also could swear I heard a resonator loose, if it has resonators in its exhaust.
First drive of a mini, and well im hooked. Land me, im done.

Why do you say the 04 is a better deal?

One thing I noticed when driving the JCW:
When in a numerically low gear, let off the gas..coast..then get into it..it's almost like a *THUD*. Like the front end is being pulled along, and the rear part of the car will get there eventually.

The MINI does have excellent resale - which is good for sellers, not so good for buyers.

In fact, we eventually went with new because the value just wasn't there for a used model. Here in VT, a typical find was a 2007 with 60k miles going for around $18.5k.

When for just $3k or so more could get a 2012 with zero miles, just didn't make any sense to buy used.

Here's wishing you better luck in NH!

I came from a jeep 35's and around 8 inches total lift

after getting about 6-7 mpg average on the highway I decided it was time for a fun luxury tuner car

Buy mine for $16499! 2009 loaded with options!

This was my problem...I got the Mini as a DD...and I ended up liking it so much...I'm selling it to buy a 2012 MCS.

Personally I am not in the market, but that sounds like a nice price for an '09. How many miles are on it?

And where's a pic?!

EDIT: Oops - just saw your sig...

51000. All highway though (I commute 110 miles a day.) I just had the car check by Mini at 50000. Everything is perfect! The one in the signature is what I'm ordering...this is the one for sale:

Very nice—of course I love the Pepper White and it seems like a fair deal to me.

Wish I could afford a 2nd one! Maybe next year...

Good luck!
