Anybody (mrk5n?) been reading the thread about getting stopped for speeding? Be ready!

Happy Motoring!
Having a blast so far! Even got my first "Mini wave" in NH over the weekend.

We've been having a great time! Still no MINI waves though. :(

Any chance any of you are heading to Bav Auto's Show and Shine next weekend? I'd love to meet Lady's shipmates...and their lovely owners of course! ;-)

Am at 1300 miles now after a trip up to Lake Placid this past weekend.. the ride up in the rain was fun even tho it was wet. TONS of minis in the area and struck up numerous convo's with hardtop, convertible, and clubman owners. My ride back down 87 was a lot slower with all the troopers on the prowl.. even border patrol was in on the action. I love this Mini.. SO MUCH FUN

Well, I got three waves returned, and I think I finally figured out how my wipers work.

mrk5n, how is the belt line chrome trim holding up on your CM? Did you get the corrected chrome trim direct from production or did they switch the chrome trim at the VDC?

I don't know if you have been following this but all CMs are inflicted with peeling chrome trim for vehicles produced after March 2011. Some are now reporting a new fixed chrome trim which is being replaced at the VDC. My CM is still in shipment but was produced one week after yours.

So far I've gotten 2 mini waves, a mini thumbs up and found another mini parked next to mine at work yesterday!

I've also had a LOT of comments from random passers-by who have been admiring Lady. A guy at Home Depot drove up on Sunday and we chatted for 5 minutes...amazing the number of looks she gets!

At first glance and comparison to the 2011's on the lot it appears the trim is the same. MA said if I start to see the issue to contact them immediately to have it scheduled for the fix. I was at the VDC for only a few days so not sure if they replaced it there or not, probably not. Since its getting cool on the east coast now this may not arise until next spring

Thanks for the info. I was hoping that maybe they had already started putting the correct trim on the 2012's. I live 250 miles from my nearest dealer and 350 miles from the dealer where I am buying my Mini CM. It will be a PITA to take in for a chrome trim replacement.

From the sound of things you will learn very shortly if your chrome is the cheap version as the chrome tape will start separating from the plastic trim and leave strips of chrome tape dangling and blowing in the wind on your car.
