The Ten Steps.....
The Ten Steps.....
Okay I think this is how it goes:
First - find Mini dealers (conveniently they place them all over a 100 miles away)
Second - test drive EVERYTHING (Note to self - warn dealer prior to executing a handbrake turn in a cul-de-sac. On second thought - naah!!!
)
Third - Check every single Google hit, YouTube video, MINIUSA link, dealer manual, NAM thread, aftermarket vendor, Car & Driver review, Edmunds price quote, owners blog, gallery photo, EBAY listing, Club calender for everything and anything Mini. (Kids: "Mom, have you seen Dad?" Wife: "He's still at the table glued to the laptop since last Friday!")
Fourth - Convince wife that you really NEED a Mini ("Honey, my doctor told me today that if I didn't get a Mini, I'd probably have to have a colostomy next week.
)
Fifth - test drive everything AGAIN! (You never know - they could have changed something from last week)
Sixth - Build more cars in your Mini Garage than Mini actually makes in a year. ("Oh Hon, hurry up and look at this one! I made it in blue with pink stripes and camo interior!)
Seventh - Lose 6 hours of sleep every night debating whether to include the xenon lights with the convenience package in red OR get the sports package with the heated seats in yellow with stripes (B24, ZPP, 5DT, 522, 2N2 - if you can read that like english, you know what I mean!)
Eigth - Reach the fourth stage of enlightenment and actually order the car! (Wife: "I don't really care if it's got DTC! Will ya stop bothering me and just order the *%@$* thing!")
Ninth - Wait, wait, wait, wait..................(this is where I'm living these days)
Tenth - DELIVERY!
Oh well, maybe by the end of the month.....

Well congrats on the order and if you thought picking the options and color were tough, that'll seem like a cake-walk compared to the waiting for delivery. The upside is you're getting the exact car you want plus if I can offer an solace, last year I ordered my car July 5th and it arrived July 31st, so your're not far off!!!
Jeeze Pacemaker, are you suggesting that one could get through all of that in a month? I made enough trips to the dealer (120 mile round trip) that they were offering to put gas in my truck.
But it does pay to investigate and make a decision on sound logic. I would hate to be the one here complaining that the car is too small and you can't install TV in the back seat.

For all of those that are waiting for their beloved MINI...CONGRATULATIONS!!
I can tell you after 3+ years and the 10 Step System, the wait and the sleepless nights are so worth it!!
You all have to promise to post pics. on Delivery Day of YOU and your MINI!!

cheers,

Ultimately, I just ended up taking the dice from my kids Yatzee game. I put all the options on stickers, put them on different sides of the dice and rolled them a couple of times.
I think when my wife starts looking at the countyman, we'll go to the bingo hall instead.
When I hear them draw B24, I'm gonna call out "Metallic Grey"!
I am patiently waiting on step 9. They said 6-8 weeks for delivery. Its still in the order processing after almost a week.... I am hoping to get it early August... but we'll see.

Ten steps? TEN!?? Surely your MINI addiction goes all the way to 11.

Ha! Perfect.
