Clutch Pedal Problem

I have a 2006 Mini S that I purchased new. It now has 59,000 miles. Never had a problem. I have always driven a stick shift automobile, so I am easy on clutches. I started having a problem with the car this past weekend. I was going down the exit ramp on the freeway, geared down like I normally do, then finally to neutral, then I tried to put it in gear, but could not get it to go in any gear. I finally noticed that the clutch pedal was not even with the brake pedal, so I pulled it up with my foot, and then I could get it in gear. It did the same thing 3 more times until I got home. At one time, the clutch pedal was all the way down on the floor, but physically pulled it back up to the normal position, and it worked normally. Has anyone had this problem before?

Sounds like the slave cylinder for your clutch. I believe you can get one for about $100 bucks for the part but labor is another story. Anyone have a write up on how to do that?

Clutch problem

I believe you are correct, because I found a puddle of hydraulic fluid on my garage floor, after I backed it out of the garage. Mini of Nashville, picked it up last night, so I guess I had better bend over, cause I know they hang it to me. I have the extended free maintenance coverage to 100,000 miles. I talked to the service manager, and he said if the clutch itself is the problem, that they would replace it at no charge, but if it had to do with the hydraulics, I would have to pay for it. By the way, he said a clutch replacement job would have cost me $3000.00 if I had to pay for it. What a load of crap. I got a clutch replaced in a Toyota truck for $150.00. Thanks for the information.
