Bought my First Mini - 2009 Pure Sliver

Hello from southern California
I bought my first Mini 3 weeks ago. I am 6'4, around 280 lbs. The first thing everyone asked on Facebook is "do you fit" Of course I fit. The car has so much room I find it incredible.

The Mini is a non S, just a Cooper. I love it. I went from a Jeep Liberty to this, so it is a big difference. Very fun to drive.
The gas mileage is incredible. Accoring to my trip computer, I should get about 500 mies to a tank! That is 250 more than my Jeep was getting!

The first thing I have scheduled to be done is tinted windows. From there I see the options are almost limitlless.

Does anyone know what the USB input is for, if it doesn't work with iPod?

Congrats and welcome! I use an iPod with my USB port, but you might be able to try plugging in a USB stick with music on it and see if you're able to play it.

I thought to use the ipod you needed the ipod adapter. Currently I use the aux input. But I miss the Alpine radio in my Jeep that charged the iPod, and allowed me to select songs through the radio.
I don't want to shell out $350 for the iPod adapter.

Sorry, you're right. I have the ipod Y cable thingie. I don't think it costs $350. You can probably shop around and get it cheaper.

Thanks! Good to know. I didn't know exactly what came with the iPod adapter. All BMW kept showing was the cradle for the hole in the dash above the glovebox.

I'll definately be picking one of these up

Ask the dealer for one, they gave me the aux/usb cable when I bought my car.

If you mean the USB port in the glove box, it is for uploading software updates.

I just upgraded from a 2008 MC and it was an incredible ride. You're going to love the car. It is surprisingly roomy inside.

Welcome Tim!

I also have a Jeep Liberty Renegade.
I decided to keep it for when it snows or moving.

You are so right, the MINI does get way better gas mileage.
