I have the punch carbon leather, and love it. I have never been much for cloth seats. Just bought a Range Rover with the same style Punch Leather. Good stuff.

After the past couple of sessions I think it's time to start buying those puts!

Incidentally, I just bought an 11 MCS and went with the standard leatherette soni could afford the premium package and I'm really happy with the decision. Drove a 325 with leather for about 10 years and was accustomed to it so I wasn't sure I'd care for the standard stuff but it looKs and feels fine not to mention easier to clean and maintain.

Or you dealer will "have a guy" that can do leather for less than the MINI price usually. My dealership does it a few times a month.

I would agree in general, but it may depend on where you live. Leatherette doesn't breathe at all, and if you are in a hot, humid climate, it can be miserable. Easy to keep clean, but it also puts creases in your pants while you drive.

i do hear this ALOT but, what i dont understand is how come people dont just turn on the AC?? wouldnt that solve the issues of you getting hot?

it was 100 degrees yest and i was driving in a car with cloth seats...just blasted the AC and i started to shiver...cuz it was cold...i can only imagine seats sticking to your back if u driving in hot weather with the windows down??? im in Socal by the way..dont know if that helps. not humid but we get dry desert heat

It's not that the leatherette is any different in temperature than leather or cloth would be. It's that it does not breathe at all. It's plastic. Holding a non-breathable material against your skin, under the right conditions, will make you sweat, or at least will make things uncomfortable, even with lots of AC.

My guess is that dry heat would be much better with leatherette than the humid heat that we get in NC, but since I haven't experienced it, I'll leave confirmation of that to those who actually know.

That was a my last decision too. Call your MA. The leather is simply zippered on (yeah, they're just covers) to the seats so it may be something you can change. I am glad I got it. I test drove the car in July with leather and leatherette. The leatherette just didn't breathe and felt sticky in the heat, despite the blasting A/C. My wife did not approve lol, so leather it was.

Also, whether or not you have the sunroof will be a factor. I wanted the sunroof, so leatherette wasn't going to work for us and at the time, the car wasn't going to be garage parked, so the heat was going to be an issue.

These are fair points and to be honest, I have yet to experience an above 80* day in my mini, that said I drove a car with black leather interior for 10 years and can tell you there is no cure for sweating in the heat with with a dark interior natural or synthetic. Now a cloth interior will keep you more comfortable but only because the sweat is being absorbed by the material not because it is keeping you cooler. As for leather you will sweat and wrinkle in the heat period, even if less so with leather. Is it worth the 1500? That's a personal choice but for my $ I'd rather have the premium pkg. Just my 2 cents.

Good points: if the leather isn't perforated, it's probably not going to feel much different than leatherette, with respect to heat and sweat. My "other" car is a Honda Pilot with perforated leather seats in light grey. No sweat with those seats.
