First off, I'd like to introduce myself. I live in the mountains of Idaho. I purchased my 2002 MCS about a year ago. Now I'm having a couple issues, and want to do some tweaking so i thought i'd join and do some research. Glad to be here!

Welcome to NAM Mtn53. Nice to see you are planning to keep your 02 in shipshape. I recently had my 02 MCS checked out by a competent MINI mechanic, and it only had a few minor issues. These early build Coopers are proving be quite durable for the long haul if properly maintained. I now know of several R53s way over 100K on mostly original parts and still going strong. I don't think 200K service life is out of reason for well-maintained Coopers. We're even seeing superchargers lasting over 100K commonly.
