Sounds like a dealer is your place to go. One year old cars can be dealer demos (driven by owner and staff) Not that many folks trade in a car so soon, but you never know. Look everywhere.
Then I wouldn't touch a MINI with a ten foot pole if there is no dealer around. Expensive to fix and very high maint. I've had mine in the shop at least 11 times since i bought it in Oct '09. You name it, its been broke. And I drive it fairly easy and take care of it.....But don't let me talk you out of it. As much as i've been in the dealer i've made friends with just about everyone there and I really like my MINI. Luckliy I literally live 2 miles from the dealer.

Don't let ballandchain discourage you, I've had mine for 1 1/2 years with no visits to the service department except for the free one year oil change. Hit the car lots, newspaper ads, the NAM Marketplace, just start looking and you will find one.
If I buy a mini in Alexandria, Va and live in PA do I have to get it serviced there? Can it be serviced at a local BMW dealership?
no. at least not under warranty.
There is a dealership in Allentown, PA. Looks about an hour and a half from where you are. http://www.miniofallentown.com/
