Can I bargain with the dealer?
I got a similar deal as the one you're looking at, but mine was a lease. Best thing I can advise is to be informed-know what you're looking for, price wise, and what you want your mini to be equipped with of course. I was a first time new car buyer and I did as much research as I could beforehand and I think i wound up with a pretty good deal for a haggling 20 y/o
. I said, give me $XXXX more for my trade in, and bump my yearly mileage up to 12k, and I'll sign your papers right now. Due to my trade-in's history, the dealer couldn't go more than what they initially offered me (which i was impressed they offered that much to begin with, my old car had a very complicated history), but instead, they ended up knocking off $1900 from the sticker (since it's a lease, I won't benefit from that unless I buy it out at the end), and I think the total price was $200 more than what the dealer actually paid for the car and I got my 12k miles/year--and because I needed an automatic (don't know stick), the dealer's inventory was limited so I wound up with a cooper that included extra options the lease advertisement didn't. So, point in case, yes, there is room to bargain, IMO
There is no reason not to try. Make up your mind as to what you want and ask, all they can do is say no. If it's a leftover '10 definitely get a good amount off. But as to how much you can grab, it depends on where you live and the dealers MO, and how many close at hand competitors he has, and the more the better for you. Here in Salt Lake there is one dealer, the nearest competition Las Vegas or Denver, so walking out the door doesn't work so well.
Yes you can. Especially if you are prepared to shop dealers. I was living in Vegas when I placed my order. I shopped the local dealer as well as dealers in AZ and CA. If you're not a Costco member, sign up. This program only "works" at participating dealers and the discount varies. Find the dealer that will give you the deepest discount and get a quote. If you aren't truly willing to fly/drive or ship your vehicle from that dealer take that quote to your closest dealer. If they want your business they'll match the offer.
I'm an extremely non-confrontational guy but this was actually pretty easy to do. Make the dealer fight for your business and they will.
Bottom line--I got $1,985 off MSRP from a dealer that normally charges $1,500 ABOVE MSRP.

Never Hurts
We just bought our 2011 on Sunday. I got 3k off MSRP! I walked out of that place three times and it took another sales manager working to close my deal. I sold cars a while back and know the game, but I learned that Mini is not hurting to sell the cars so be careful. My pride got in the way. This is the slowest time of the year, use that to your advantage. Good Luck and you wont regret it. I actually just want to go sit in the car and listen to Sirus radio and take in the new smell. The day after we bought the car, my wife was driving to work, and called in sick and just kept driving, ~250 mile the first day!!!!

Here is a good site to use when bargaining with the dealer.
http://www.truecar.com/
On Nov 30 I was able to purchase for less that dealer invoice.
It was the end on the month and they need to sell 3 cars to make their numbers.

I am in dispute with a dealer about a deposit. May end up with two.
Make sure it's the car you want and the price you want to pay. After ordering at full price I found a Mini with more equipment and $2000 less. I jumped on it. Where you live will make a big different.
