Just joined. We have had our 2008 Clubman S for about 2 years. Have loved it until recently when check engine light keeps coming on. It has been to the dealer 3 times in 6 weeks. Problem: excessive carbon intake on intake valves. All 3 times, they have "cleaned" the valves. Fortunately it is under warranty still. They act as though they know nothing about this being a common problem and keep suggesting we are using cheap gas. We use 93 octane Sunoco or Shell and rarely Marathon.
Is there a more permanent fix than going to the dealership every two weeks?

Yeah, get the dealer to admit that it is a problem with a number of MINIs and get him to tell you how he is going to fix the problem. Bring along some receipts from your tier 1 stations to put the gasoline question to rest.
