Hello, I am new to this board and new to mini's. I sure love the car but have a couple of questions. I have a 2010 S hatchback that runs great but I'd like to hop it up with some kind of engine performance upgrade. What was the first engine upgrade you made to your mini?
One more- I can find no reference to the timing drive on my car, is it a chain or a belt? If a belt what is the replacement schedule?
Thanks,
Rob Gibson

Welcome robgib, it would be a timing chain and generally you replace them when they slip a cog or break, probably won't happen though.
Lot of good info here, just have fun looking around, good luck.

Welcome! I'm in Mill Valley, recently from SF. Congratulations on your ride!

The first thing I did to my last MINI (an 06 MCS) was a cold air intake. I'd say thats a nice place to start. On the new one, I've had it 3 days, so... I've LOOKED under the bonnet at least...

Thanks for the idea of a cold air intake. I'll start looking into it.

Thanks for letting me know it has a chain and not a belt, that's a big relief. I couldn't find any reference to the timing drive in any of the manuals I got with the car. Rob

Also, if it were me, next would be the alta accessport. Seems like a great tool and bang for your buck factor for ecu remaps. Then exhaust. Then coil overs. Then...
