Mods... hmm where to start

Hello everyone,

I searched already and couldn't necessarily find what I am looking for so, help! Will I need to get an ALTA performance tune (accessport) if I bought this particular stage 2 kit:

http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...speed_kit.html

If someone with some experience with these cars could post up I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you

The kits are obviously pricey but worth it all the way. Proper software with the matching products is the best way to go. Alta is a reliable company and their products are of high quality. This is a fairly common kit so I have no problems with it. Will need the proper install though of course

Any suggestions on what website would sell performance kits or packs? Thanks for your help!

Check out waymotorworks.com, he's got everything you could need, and I'm sure he could put a package together with exactly what you want. And he sells better ,IMHO, plugs than outmotoring. NGK Iridiums, the same that MINI used on JCWs.

No you will not have to get an Access port Alta tune with that kit. If you needed that Aaron at Outmotoring would have said so. He's a very good & honest business owner.

Down the road you may want to go with a custom tune, but it is not a necessity.

Alright, I just noticed your comment about the Alta AP. Now, the kicker is the AP is a tuning device for R56 MINIs('07-10). The package you have linked is for R53 MINIs (02-06). Please clarify what year your car is, and that will alleviate any chance of a problem. Now, tunes aren't NECESSARY until you start changing the inner workings of the engine, injectors, cams, heads etc. And still some of those can be managed temporarily without.

Wow an R53/R56 hybrid. Now that is another kettle of fish entirely.
