*Beep Beep* New Girl On The Lot
Hi everyone!
New to the forum, to MINIs and very happy to be here.
My story (short version..believe me). The last time I owned a car was in 2005. Since then, I've either been living abroad or in places where a subway was the fastest thing on the block. Doesn't mean I haven't driven, but....it's been oh...forever since I've been in love with my car. (I had affection for my honda when I bought it, but nothing like this love affair)
Fast forward ...I recently moved from NYC down south where there's more sun, bluer skies, wider roads, fewer people on those wider roads and to a place where I definitely needed a ride; hailing a cab here was not going to be an option. My boyfriend said...'make sure it's something you love'. I thought...how hard could it be? Apparently a lot hard....until....I drove a MINI. I think my exact words were, 'This car was made for me'. Tiny on the outside with a large personality. Sold....at least on the idea of the little roadster. During the hunt, considered going the slug bug route, then the audi tt route, but I couldn't take my mind off that MINI! Make, model, narrowed down. Now...my perfect color. BRG is a bit hard to come by in these parts, but....alas I found it.
A 2003 British Racing Green in great condition with a sunroof. But it was...a stick shift. *i didn't know how to drive stick shift and probably could have sought therapy from all of the failed attempts* "I don't care, I'll learn, I want it." And so the years of fear of driving a standard were folded up nicely and put away hopefully never to be heard from again..until I'm forced to parallel on a steep hill of course.
End result, a little bit of what I like to call "Clutch Foot" (must get that left foot used to doing something), a huge smile on my face, a car that I love to drive and if I do say so myself, a car that loves to be driven.
Name: Moxie Dash Dragonfly (because it's got moxie, likes to dash and because not only does it resemble a dragonfly in that beautiful emerald color, but dragonflies swarm it on the road...no idea why). Green with envy? *sigh* couldn't resist it.
See you down the road!!!

Greetings and welcome to the NAMily, Moxie D!
Congratulations on getting a MINI and it would appear to be a perfect match ('This car was made for me'.) Very nice MINI and love the color!
Thanks for posting pics of your MINI... your new brothers and sister here on the forum will appreciate your thoughtfulness cause we all love pics... yes we do!
Now the madness begins... Your life will be changed in ways that you cannot begin to imagine as Mini Mania takes over... and that's a good thing!
That dragonfly graphic (large on roof or small on boot) is a great place start!
Whatever you do though I can see that you and your MINI will share many miles and smiles!
Now get out there and Motor!

Thank you for the warm welcome everybody! Love the dragonfly decal idea too!
@nabeshin...Moxie is new to me and her windows came like that. Plus I hear there's not heavy inspection in FL anyway. Tires crossed
As for the 'good shape' part....someone really loved her before me and I'm super thankful. Not only for the obvious, but it means so much when people look after their cars.
Loving this MINIraderie already!!

Congrats & Welcome Moxie! Love the name, love the MINI...she's quite stunning and does appear to have lived a charmed life thus far. Wishing you miles of smiles...maybe we'll see you at MINI's on the Dragon 2011.?. You've just joined one big ole fun-loving dysfunctional family...gotta love it.
@ DooBahDoo!!! That event sounds awesome! Thank you for letting me know; we'd love to try and make it!
Seeking some advice on stripes...I'd like to put some white ones on Moxie's front. My bf said he heard of magnetic ones, but....we were both wondering if they would stick up too far or if just getting them painted on was the better way to go.
Any thoughts?

Vinyl is the way to go for stripes... fairly economical, can be applied professionally or by yourself... and if you change your mind after a while they can be removed relatively easily. Check out the vendors list here on the site... there's quite a few folks who sell a wide range of stripes.
Now that's how you do an intro! Short, sweet and interesting.
We can all relate to how you feel. I gave up an AC Schnitzer 525 BMW for my first R53. As much as I loved the Bimmer, once I drove the 03 Mini S I never looked back.
Welcome, and make sure you can wipe that smile off your face when the time is right. People will think something's wrong with you. Another Mini driver will understand.

BRG is not rare in Florida -

You don't need to wait till 2011 for a MINI get together nor drive so far
http://sunshineminis.org/MM6/
The popular Florida MINI site is http://www.sunshineminis.org/
- you live in Florida? You must be in northwest Florida (aka the panhandle) else: What steep hill do YOU plan to park on. A steep hill around here is a pile of grass clippings over a foot high.

Oh how I weep! I saw the shimmering white sands in the background of your photographs and I didn't even have to look where you were from! How I miss Florida (namely my beloved St. Pete Beach and Sarasota). Lucky Lady, oh and the car's not too shabby either!
Dragonflies flittering around your iridescent BRG MINI? It sounds like you're already living a most charmed and rather enchanted life! I hope you enjoy your new baby and your new life in Florida. Welcome and have fun with your future modifications.
