Hello all!

New to NAM today, just signed up actually. I'm not yet an owner but I have hopes to be in the near future! I actually came across this site searching for mini's for sale (not quit in the market yet but doesn't hurt to look). Anyway, seems this is the 'noob' area for everyone so I decided to say hi to everyone! Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend!

I have hopes to get a Cooper S in the future. I'm still stuck on whether I want an older one or newer one... I work from home so I don't exactly need a DD which is my toughest problem. If you guys have any advice - I'm open to suggestions. Also if anyone knows of major problems with either, that would help me out a lot. I've owned VW's before and my b/f and I know a lot about them, not so much on mini's though.
And thank you for the welcomes

Welcome to NAM, Seb! There is SOOOOO much information here on this site!!

I never had any major problems with my '04 S. And I'm waiting for my '10 S as I type this!

But '04 was definitely quirky. But nothing that ever left me stranded, and the warranty to 50K was fantastic.

If you have the $$$, I would recommend new. And I'd recommend you special order it. Following the build, then finally getting your new MINI made JUST for you is a great experience!

Thank you for your welcome If I get a newer one I was looking at 2002 - 2003. What kind of 'quirks' did your 04 have? If I want to get an older one it would be the classic style - I know there are tons of different kinds to choose from as well.

If I had the money for a brand new car, I don't think I would be purchasing a brand new one lol. It's great you got one! It's just not for me, years ago I had a brand new VW GTI - it was great but I actually love the older style VW's which is why I am somewhat interested in the Classic Mini. (I know they're different - VW's and minis) But theres something about older cars I love!

Like I said before, I'm not stuck in the mud with either choice. I still have a lot of time and a lot to decide on and research on. I'm so greatful I found this site though I hope to learn a lot from here.

Thanks again!! Good luck with your new mini!

Welcome to the site. Try looking for an 05-06 model. Those years had most of the bugs worked out. I've got an 06 S and loving it every day Good luck with your search.

Thank you so much for the advice. Since I'm new to "the mini world" do the older models have more electrical issues... Or is it something other than that?
