new 2005 british racing green MCS owner
hey. been lurking here on the forum for about a month now. Picking up my 2005 brg MCS this morning, so i thought i would make my first post! I bought this little gem down in dallas. I have the next two weeks off work, so it's road trip time. Going to drive AR-23 (arkansas pig trail) tomorrow.
the car is really clean with just under 50k miles. 6 spd, hk audio, no sunroof, 17" wheels. has a couple of chips in the paint which i will fix. only other annoyance is a occasional rattle in the right door panel. I already purchased the M7 stut brace, hoping this will stiffen up the car and get rid of the rattle. if not i will take door apart and fix it.
Looking for a used JCW intake. I also plan on adding a 15 or 17% pulley, colder plugs, and maybe a newman cam. I don't want to modify exhaust because i don't want the expense or noise. I would like to get 200HP.
i live up in northwest indiana, so my first item of business is to completely clean the car, then coat every piece of hardware or bare aluminum with a whole can of Boeshield (or is it spelled boshield) anyway it is an amazing aircraft corrosion preventative.
BTW my other vehicle is 2004 Aprilia RSVR 1000, wife drives saab 9-3SS 2.0turbo

Congratulations & welcome to the obsession from MAD-Town, WI, BRG rocks! When you're ready to post a picture of your new "friend", you can join this thread; https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...en-thread.html
Wow...nice bike. I almost bought one of those. I decided to go for the 07 Triumph Speed Triple instead, but my buddy has one, and I sure do enjoy swapping rides once in awhile.
Yeah, welcome to the madness, I got my MCS a few weeks ago and already ordered wheels and planning a stereo....that is if I can find enough expandable foam.
Congrats on your MINI and enjoy the AR motoring!
Looking forward to seeing photos of your car; the British Racing Green is a great color.

not sure if i like the strut brace. or it could be the cold roads up here, but now my car has a wierd understeer. the roads in arkansas were barely above freezing and i didn't feel any understeer. should be easy enough to diagnose as the M7 brace is made in several sections, i can just remove the center section and take it for a test drive.
also my car gets a vibration in the steering wheel above speeds of about 80mph. no vibration at lower speeds. also above 80 if my foot is on the gas i feel no vibration, but as i take my foot off the gas, i get some vibes. any place i should look first? was thinking the lower front control arm bushings. also going down hill at high speed i tried pushing in the clutch- vibration was still there while coasting, so it's in the suspensin, steering or wheels i think, not the drive train.

rotated tires today. took car up to just under 100mph and didn't feel any vibes in the steering wheel. also removed the center section of the strut brace. seems to drive better without it.
