new clubman owner & new to NAM

we are excited about the car and having fun learning its ins and outs.
We seem to have a noticeable delay in acceleration -we have an automatic & Sportmode as an option.
Acceleration in Sport mode is great, but in regular mode and Auto "D", there is a noticeable lag. Suggestions?
I appreciate the help.

In my now 11-month old Clubby S, I, too, have noticed the difference between regular and sport mode for the AT. From what I've read on this Forum, many folks just leave sport mode on all the time! Have fun! Just make sure you change out the brake pads ASAP to keep those wheels as clean as possible. I went with CarboTech Bobcats 1521 pads; IMO, it was a good, no,great thing to do!

We have left it in Sport mode, and wondered if that was a reasonable response to the issue. Yet, I have a older Ford Explorer that has an AT and is quicker off the line then the clubman in the regular mode....
Thank you for the suggestion on the Brakes - the brake dust has left me washing the wheels every couple of days and considering brake dust shields, which the dealer suggested as not "not a good option"

Welcome to the Clubbie-Club

If you like the feel of Sport mode, just use it all the time. I haven't heard of any down-side to it. Not sure why you would need to change pads on a new Clubman. The brakes work fine for me.

I, too, had no problems with the OEM brakes stopping the car in an acceptable manner. HOWEVER, I had major problems with the amount of brake dust and the time it took to clean the web-spoke wheels. Thus, the change out of the OEM brake pads. There is a person on this FORUM or Motoring Alliance or both, his FORUM name is BLIMEY, I think; he is a very good source of information re: brakes, rotors, etc.

Just keep in sport mode and shift gears manually and you will be happy. Yeah it's got a sluggish feel in regular mode. Congrats on your new MINI.

New to NAM but not the Mini

New to this site and my first post. So a BIG Hello to ALL the Mini Owners out there !
2003 Indi Blue Mini Cooper bought off the dealer lot in April 03 from Prestige Mini in Mahwah N.J. I drive 100 miles a day rd. trip for work, to date I have clocked 191,000 miles on my Cooper and still enjoy the daily drive.
My Cooper has had it's issues however but I won't go into that now.

I use sport mode until I get on the freeway. If left in sport then it will never shift into 6th gear and keep the RPMs around 4K However if I need to pass I will put sport mode on via the shifter as there is a noticeable lag when you 'punch it' in normal mode.

Welcome and congrats! Something that you can do to reduce the lag is look into Sprint Boosters. I plan on getting one as my husband has one in his BMW 135i. He took it out two weeks ago and since I have driven it twice with it out the lag drives me nuts! So I am pretty sure I will invest in one as well for my MINI .
