Just got my 2010 MCS, clutch feels weird?

When the car is on up hill slope, it happens when I release my brake while clutch is pressed. The car won't rollback/slide for 1 sec, then it will be in neutral position.

It's like it won't go neutral even the brake is released for 1 sec.

Hope u know what i mean.

Anyone has the same experience?

It's called Hillholder, and it's done that way on purpose - it's a feature of your new MINI.

The idea is that it gives you a moment to let the clutch start to engage without having to use the handbrake or hold the footbrake, to make it easier to drive.

I've never felt the need for such a feature but I can see it's value, especially for newer drivers who aren't used to a stick shift car.

But you can relax, nothing's wrong with your car.......

That's what it was called in 1991 on my Subaru Legacy. I considered it a very convenient feature!

Is this a standard feature?

Is this hillhold feature standard on all Mini models (both AT and MT)?

Actually it's called "HillAssist" and yes it is Standard on ATs and MTs.

It is only standard on R56/5/7 models with DSC, my 2007 Cooper which has no stability doesn't have it. My 09 Cooper with DSC (came standard on 09) did have it.

Rayck, I would go back to your motoring advisor and complain (jokingly of course) because they did not explain it to you.

It's an excellent feature: no more handbrake or burning the clutch on steep grades -- especially so when people ride your bumper at a hilly stoplight.
