Week 40 of 2009 Super Support Thread
Another update on my now-amusing missing truck driver story.
Called my MA at 6 p.m., since they're having their Halloween festivities tonight at the dealership.
STILL no truck!!
I said "What, did he drive off the mountain?!"
After further conversation my MA and I have speculated that the truck driver possibly lives somewhere between Chattanooga and Nashville and that he dropped off his load of cars at the Chattanooga BMW dealership and then went home for the rest of the weekend. He had to go trick or treating too, you know!
So...yeah. There is currently a tractor trailer parked somewhere on the side of the road in between Chattanooga and Nashville -- for all I know, probably in my hometown of Manchester -- and Sriracha is on it. :P
The "good" news, I guess, is that there are four other customers waiting for cars on that truck, so that makes five anxious customers and, per my MA, a very unhappy manager. I suspect that the truck driver just figured he was delivering a routine shipment of cars and that it really didn't matter when they got to the dealer. I also suspect he's going to have an unpleasant Monday.
So, we'll see. Maybe Monday. Who the heck knows.
For those of you still waiting, so long as your truck drivers don't need to go trick or treating in the midst of your scheduled delivery times, you should be good! :P

So, since ordering my MINI on 7/25, I've been waiting, and waiting. Sometimes there's a bit of drama or news along the way to keep in interesting. But I'm at the point where none of that amuses me anymore.
The car only had to have sport stripes installed at the VDC. That's the only option they had to add.
My MA says that for sure it will arrive by today or tomorrow.
I'm not going to plan on it, so that way I will be truly suprised instead of disappointed.

Well I think that everyone that was supposed to receive his or her Mini this weekend didn’t. MY Mini was going to arrive in Chicago on Friday; I was going to pick it up on Saturday. My car never arrived and now the OL says my car wont be at the dealer until Tuesday, I'm waiting for a call from my MA and hope to hear some better news. Hopefully that truck driver had a good time trick or treating!
By the way...our Week 40 of 2009 Super Support thread is fast moving up the charts by way of # of replies. I'm not sure if that's a good thing. We've been griping a lot.
I'm here for my fellow week 40ers. Lean on me. We'll all lean on eachother and one day in the not so distant future we can all look out at that perverbial Blacktop Highway and wonder....are my fellow week 40 MINI drivers having as much fun as I am? Beep Beep.

Yeah, I kinda like that our thread is becoming one of the larger ones, even if it's through our griping.
I'm still right there with the rest of you. Still no update on the whereabouts of my car but, eh, *shrug.* He'll turn up somewhere and I'm sure he'll have quite a story to tell.

Wow.
This just keeps getting weirder.
My car, well, a truckload of at least 5 other MINIs, is...missing.
The manager at MINI of Nashville has been on the phone with the trucking company today trying to figure out what has happened. MINI of Nashville has already been invoiced for these cars, and they're showing up in the system as having been delivered on Friday, but no cars.
I'm just...hangin' in there. What can you do?

That's what I'm thinking! Looks like I'm not the only one whose car went AWOL this weekend!
How do you know if your car is still at the VDC or not?
Actually, OL will tell you when it has left the VDC, although usually a day or two after it has already left. At least that is the verbiage on the notice that it is at your dealer....
What is it about our week??? Seems to be a lot more drama than I have seen on other support sites!!! I sure hope many of you hear something this week as I sure don't understand the holdups
As to that, Don Carlos has gone into hiding again, no reports for over 48 hours. I believe it made it through the canal by yesterday morning. No extension on scheduled date for Port Hueneme and it is no longer listed on Boyd's for scheduling through the canal. Figured they would have changed the Port Hueneme date if it hadn't made it through as it takes about 8-9 days from Panama to PH. I watched a couple of auto carriers go through the locks but none seemed to be a part of the 'WW' line.
I'm sure there is a lot of thumb twiddling going on now

Third Wave, I really HOPE your car doesn't end up anywhere NEAR my truck.
So my Sriracha has been located, unharmed. And this is shaping up to be a real story of heroism, bravery, and...no, really, it's just a story of pure *******.
Here's the bullet pointed summary:
- Truck driver, who I am lovingly going to call Ed the Special, picked up a load of 8 cars on Thursday. 6 were to go to Nashville, 2 to Chattanooga. Deliveries were to be made on Friday.
- Ed made his delivery of 2 BMWs to Chattanooga on Friday morning. Despite already being almost 2/3 of the way to his destination, only 2 hours away from the delivery point, Ed, who apparently lives near Chattanooga, then decided that he was, yawn, stretch, done for the week. So he went home for the weekend, load of cars valuing $350,000 in tow.
- Ed woke up bright and early Monday morning and thought, "Wull gosh dang, I gots me two empty spots in my truck." So, again, despite already being 2/3 of the way to his destination with a 3/4 full load, Ed then drove BACK to the Greer VDC, four hours away, to pick up two more cars. Yes, that's right, Ed drove all the way back to the VDC with a 3/4 full load of customer-sold MINIs.
- Ed failed to let anyone know about this and, by my speculation, the only way anyone figured out where Ed was and/or what he was doing is that he showed back up at the VDC and said "Hey guys!"
- Four of the MINIs on that truck had been sold. Four had customers waiting to take delivery on Friday, which would have been four additional sales for not only the month of October, but for the 3rd Quarter. So not only am I not pleased, but the dealership isn't either.
Sriracha is supposedly being delivered to MINI of Nashville tonight. My MA and I both said we will believe it when we see it, but if Ed actually does his job for a change (and maybe for the last time), I'll have my baby tomorrow. My MA also told me he'd text me a picture of Sriracha as soon as he sees him.
Alls well that ends well?

Absolutely. :( In my case, and I presume in the other Nashville deliveries that had already been sold, my MA told me that if we had to, I could come by today and do the paperwork on mine since he'd already gotten me approved and set up, etc. He confirmed this afternoon that I'm still good on the 3.9%, so I'm pleased about that, definitely. He really came through to help out on that, especially given how strange this situation was and how helpless we all were just waiting for information.
OMG clockworktomato...Poor Sriracha was basically kidknapped! Sounds like Ed isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Wow, what a story.
I'm hoping you will see your baby soon and make sure you send us some pictures!

The part that I find truly amusing is that the trip across the Atlantic from England was safer and more sensible (and, now that I think about it, made more quickly) than the 6 hour trip from the VDC to my dealer!
You can absolutely bet I'll get pictures up ASAP when I pick him up. It's been a long time coming, and I'm going to be so proud!

If I'm not mistaken, the Don Carlos is now on the other side of the canal and ready to start moving towards its' final destination. Unless it gets waylaid by rogue 18 wheelers...
