New Mini Dealer!, Fort Myers, South Florida

I have been inquiring for over 6 mo's about a possible dealer in the Fort Myers, Fla. area! I have tagged a dealer delivered car, 2010 model, for late October 2009 delivery to this new dealer,"Mini of Fort Myers". The previous BMW building is being converted to a Mini dealer and is being equipped as "Mini of Fort Myers". I am dealing with the , "to be announced sales manager, Ken Wetzel. Ken can be reached at 1-800-798-9237. I am told their new web site is almost complete as of 9-28-09. Excited!, like everyone about our first Mini; dark silver with Tuscan beige, Mcs, auto, premium;I am told car is on a boat, on its way!. Thought it OK to let other, would be Mini owners of the possibility of getting one of the "new dealer" ordered cars which are YET unspoken for! You might be doing me a favor by mentioning that you saw a note from "BG" on this forum, for this advance information! Please Note: they are not yet hooked into the Mini tracking system , but can track their preorder dealer cars, now! Hope this note helps someone get an early 2010 Model car!!!

I am not affiliated with this dealer, just a new customer!

I bought my 1st two MINI's when I lived in Fort Myers way back in 2002 I bought a 2002 Justa in(Miami) and then upgraded to a 2003 MCS (Orlando) It would have been SOOO nice to have a MINI dealer then in Fort Myers.
Do think I have delt with Ken before as I remember it was a BMW 330 then a 228I same time frame as the MINI's.
All I know is I want to move back (live in North FL now) because if they run the new MINI as well as they do BMW of Fort Myers people are in for a treat. BMW of Fort Myers just spoiled and ruined me!

LUCKY!

Great News about MINI of Fort Myers.

Rumors were wild about it in April, 2008 when I decided I wanted a MINI.

I drove to the BMW Dealer location, saw the empty showrooms with a sign about their New Location and drove the three miles South to BMW of Fort Myers and inquired. They had no knowledge of MINI coming.

Ended up driving to Ferman MINI of Tampa Bay to purchase my MINI, they knew about a MINI Dealership coming to Fort Myers and said they were hoping to open it.

I have done my own Oil/Filter's to avoid the drive back to Ferman, but my OBD says that Service is Due 3/2010 and it will be nice to have a Complete MINI Service done locally.

I have not found their web site yet.

From what BG posted; it looks like within a couple weeks and he provided a telephone number..

If it's the building I went by 19 months ago, it's just a little South of Costco on the West side of the Tamiami Trail.

(Old BMW of Fort Myers location= 13950 South Tamiami Trail zip33912)

Mini of Fort Myers

They're waiting for certificate of occupancy; Building is the revamped BMW building. Should have cars within the next two weeks. Have a VIN of car to be delivered late October! Trying to get a list of cars available!

Visited that New MINI of Fort Myers today, they will begin delivery of cars this Friday 10/23 after receiving Dealer License and opening of Service Department for 'Dealer Prep'.

Their cars are arriving and I saw a Beautiful Dark Silver Clubman appear out of this huge, totally enclosed auto carrier from Brunswick, GA.

Lots of Chrome and was equipped with the best looking roof rack I have seen on a MINI.

Did not clip into slots under drip rails, but rather was a longitudinal installation into the roof, from the factory.

Rude manager at Fort Myers Mini

I was just treated very rudely and given a tremendous amount of hostility bordering on physical intimidation by a manager at the Fort Myers Mini. The salesman was very nice but when the manager got involved with the pricing he began to raise his voice and get very close. I asked for my keys and told him we where leaving and that he should lower his voice. He replied with "he is the manger and he would talk as loud as he wanted. We are still in the market for a Mini but not until I am told how this situation will be resolved I will not be purchasing it.

With unemployment the way it is I am sure they can find someone that is not on a roid rage like this guy. My wife was scared! Almost makes me not even want a mini. I would recommend going to another dealer. This one is nice until you do not like their first offer for full sticker and 5000 under NADA trade in value for your mint condition trade in!

I hope you advise MINI USA about your experience.

I live in the Sarasota area, I do my own oil changes but if you have to have someone else do it why drive all the way to Fort Myers when these guys can do it ? They are right off Clark Rd. in Sarasota http://www.rennhaus.net/

Yeah, thanks. I've been to see them before. I prefer to go to a dealership for the covered oil changes plus there's always some warranty items that need tending to and I have them taken care of at the same time. As for Ft. Myers... ummmm... yeah... I'm not planning to ever go back down there again. Waste of my time. Unless they bring Joe from Tom Bush in Jacksonville down there... then maybe I would reconsider. Guess I'm sticking with Ferman.

Really sad to read of your experience at this new MINI dealer.

First avenue would be the local management at MINI of Fort Myers and their parent company would be Sonic Automotive.

http://www.sonicautomotive.com/dealership/history.htm

They are the owners of MINI of Fort Myers as well as several other Fort Myers Automobile dealerships and other MINI dealerships accross the country.

MINI USA would be another place you should advise of your unkind treatment.

Sunshine MINIs would be another location for you to publicly vent your anger.

Eddie, (the Service Manager) gave us a nice tour of his Service Department, (during Pirate Coast MINI's Annual Picnic) but such a beautiful Facility is of little value without people that know what they are doing.

My 24 month check is due (at less than 6,000 miles driven) and although I am glad to save the five hour RT 'motor' to the next nearest MINI Dealer, these reports give me cause for apprehension....

For you, I guess Sarasota is about equal distance between Palm Harbor and Fort Myers. Reminds me of when we had a Volvo and the nearest dealership was in Sarasota.

I have been very lucky to have never had a warrenty issue and my 36mo/36k Service will end in April 2011 and I will be happy to change my own oil after that.

I spent 42 years of my life as a new car dealer. But, when I walk into a Mini dealer I am just another consumer. My wife and I have had reason to visit Mini of Fort Myers on three occassions. They were very attentive, very cordial, and accomplished the work we were there for in a timely manner. I did not buy the car there but only because they were not open. I do intend to buy a second Mini from them in the future.

Please, no one should base their opinion of any dealer solely on one report on the Internet. There are always three versions of any story....his-theirs-and what really happened.

I just bought my used 2009 MCS there and had a lovely time doing it. The MA was awesome ("ole" Bud). They treated my wife and I with respect and were always attentive to our needs and worked with us on the price of the trade in, MINI, and financing. I would not hesitate to recommend other to purchase a car there in the future.

As a matter of fact, they are having a family get together:

"
Everyone had so much fun at our Motor to Know rally that we've decided to do it again. Our MINI Social will begin at 5:30pm and run until 8:00pm on Friday September the 24.
This time we'll be showing off our new 2011 models, with a MINI Social! The unveiling of the new line will be at 6:30pm. We welcome all friends, family members and PETS as well. Please join us at the dealership as we will have live entertainment and food from Whole Foods in Naples.

We will have our awesome Technicians and Motoring Advisors on hand to answer any questions you have regarding your current MINI as well as any question you or your friends may have with the new 2011's! We are hoping for a great turn out and look forward to seeing everyone here! Please RSVP so we may have a tentative head count. We want to make sure we have plenty of food for all!!
