Enjoy your MINI. I sold a 3 series BMW convertible for a '09 MCS Convertible and love driving it. The MINI is a unique experience. Happy Motoring!

I'm in huntington. I actually have a hot side boost tube that I'm having trouble getting on. You guys should come up with some mods and maybe sometime in the next few weeks we can get together. I have ramps and some tools and such. I'm sure we could figure it out.

Do I detect a trend?

My wife and I recently sold our faithful 1996 Honda Civic and picked up a 2002 Mini Cooper Coupe. So, we're moving in the right direction in more ways than one. Viv Shrimpton, our Mini, is Chili Red with an Arctic White roof. Since we brought him home, I've installed a Pioneer AVIC-N5 head unit with navigation, bluetooth and ipod integration. I'm now adding a back-up camera (I know, I know) to the set-up and have Viv's interior stripped again. The first time I had to dismantle the interior, I took the opportunity to have the gloss silver dash panels and the door panel "ovals" painted to match the Chili Red exterior. I've trimmed out just about every conceivable other bit with chrome accents from Minspeed. The effect gives Viv a sort of a coca-cola vending machine look, but we like it. The two-tone tan and black leather interior helps keep it under control. I've taken the original chrome-plated plastic louver grille out of the hood/bumper and replaced it with the black aero grille set available at Outmotoring. The hood section was a 15-minute cinch. The little bumper section, though, took hours to modify for the flush fit I was after. Next, I went to Griot's Garage and bought my first orbital polisher. Some previous owner must have washed Viv with a sand-clotted rag and I needed to remove A LOT of swirls and scratches. Over eight passes with two "grits" and three final power waxes later, Viv is looking—if not new—very young again. I've also added a K&N typhon air intake system, new front rotors and pads (with a bright red paint job for the calipers) and the BMW sunroof wind deflector from Outmotoring. I've slashed my knuckles repeatedly and cursed this car a number of times, but I've never had so much fun. I can't wait to finish the camera wiring and button Viv back up. Then, he'll get a good wash and wax (while my wife considers having me committed) and we'll hit the road. Safe, happy motoring to all.

I was wondering if any of you Long Islanders wanted to help me put on my rear sway bar sometime next week. I have a friend loaning me jack stands, but I'd like another set of hands.
