My brakes are acting weird. Help?

Hi everyone! I've had my MINI Cooper S for almost 2 weeks now. I had a MINI before for 3 months (don't ask what happened to it... very tragic) and this wasn't an issue with that 'older' one.

When I try to brake slowly, the car jerks forward a little. I let my room mate drove the car and he noticed this too. Any advice on this? Is this normal for a brand new car? Today I have about 350 miles on it.

Thanks!

That does NOT sound normal. Ask the dealer.

Jerks forward as in it feels like the car is accelerating a tiny bit? Not sure if I'm experiencing the same thing you are...

When I first started driving my MINI, I had to get used to the brakes. It seems like once the car reaches 15-10 mph as I approach a stop, the MINI will brake for me, so to speak, and I'll feel a little jerk. People on NAM suggest it was just the EBA kicking in, but I thought that was only for hard stops.

Yes, exactly! I know what you mean by the EBD kicking in... but this one is different. Anyway, I am getting the car checked at the dealership today, hopefully, this is nothing biggie.

If you ever think you car is not braking normally....its dealer time! Definitely! Cant afford not to have the "no go" pedal working properly.

If your car is an automatic, what you are feeling is normal. It seems like when you're decelerating towards a stop the fuel is shut off to the engine, when you reach a certain speed (usually about 5 mph on my car) the engine sorta cuts back in again, and you get that slight jerk forward. It's not the brakes..........

If you have a stick, all bets are off.......

I think you're right, MINIdave. The mechanic at the dealership said everything is normal with the way the car is behaving. I can't wait for the break-in period.
