I actually did, however I was just checking to show someone something. I have a very good understanding of what a clutch does mechanically being that I'm a huge car nut my whole life...just nobody ever took the time to teach me a stick or lend me a car to learn on.

By "checking" you gained +1.

Congrats on the order. I picked up my new '09 MCS Convertible on 6/3/09 and am having a blast. I sold my 3 series BMW for this and the MINI is even more fun in day-to-day driving than I thought it would be - no second thoughts here.

I too, was determined to dump the run flats from the start. I live in Atlanta and had the dealer remove the Dunlop runflats before I took delivery and I purchased Michelin Pilot Sport A/S PLUS (make sure you are looking at the PLUS - it is new and I rated much higher than the older Pilot Sport A/S). Check the reviews for this tire at tirerack.com.

I wanted a quiet ride, smooth but still stiff enough for crisp handling. I have about 1100 miles on them and have been very pleased. They have a prorated 45,000 mile warranty - very rare for a V rated low profile.

Expansion joints are barely detectable compared to the "was that a 2 x 4 I just ran over?" of the runflats. Handling is very crisp and noise is low.

Good luck with your new MINI!!!

Hello Bigsoup52,

You replied to my previous posts fretting over whether to sell my BMW 3 series convertible and get a MCS Convertible. You were right to offer encouragement. I have thoroughly enjoyed this and look for excuses to go out and drive it. It is a real blast!

Ok so I got:

-A Rear Seat Delete from Helix
-A Light in Sight from Outmotoring
-A Shortie Antennae from Alta
-4 Bridgestone G019 tires to replace runflats (will be on the marketplace as soon as I have them at home...If anyone wants to speak up now you get first dibs)---speaking of which how the hell do I ship tires? That seems expensive.

Anything else before I take delivery on the 26th?

Saw my car today, hopefully getting it tomro :D. I don't have a camera or I'd take pics, maybe I'll drive to my Aunt's and steal hers before I pick up Jeremy.
I like the webspokes, but I thought they were the more complex looking ones, which are a lot more expensive so that was a dumb assumption. I just have to wait for stripes, a test drive, and everything with financing to go through (couldn't get to my co-signer until today, thankfully my MA stayed AFTER CLOSE to put it through and help me out).
If anyone in the LI area buys a MINI go to George Kouroumousis at Habberstad MINI in Huntington, on Jericho Turnpike, right near where Deer Park Road starts.

About George real quick in case there is a buyer here:
- Ordered the MINI 6-Speed even though I didn't really know how to drive a stick. He took me out 3 times in test drive cars and allowed me to practice on a MCS, showed me how to do stuff and really took the time to make sure I was happy....after I had already bought the car and everything was done.

- Today I called him and told him that I would be a tad later than his shift, he had no problem staying and even after getting the needed paperwork took the time to go through everything with me for about an hour after his shift had already ended.

- He's also a real car guy. Has a Mustang 5.0, an Infinity G35, and a Honda Civic with a MINI on the way...at like 25-29 years old, thats not a bad stash of cars to have after the mortgage/rent is paid.

Overall, great people there at Habberstad MINI and at the joined Pre-Owned BMW dealer. Great experience with them and looking forward to seeing them next time a family member needs a new car.
