Hi everyone!

So its official. After 7 years of slowly saving up money I am the proud owner of a liquid yellow 2006 automatic mini cooper! She has a little over 34k, premium & sports packages and heated seats. She will be getting her black bonnet stripes asap.

I look forward to getting to know all of you. I may not understand what is being said here 90% of the time but I am slowly (very slowly) learning. I apologize in advance for the numerous stupid questions and blonde moments (strawberry blonde counts right?) to come.

Oh, and before I forget, her name is Lola.

Thanks! You wouldnt believe how hard it was to find liquid yellow with a black top. I am getting the standard factory style black bonnet stripes put on it. Im embracing my inner bumble bee.

Funny story. On the way home from Calabasas stuck in traffic on the freeway a bee landed on my car. It must have thought I was its queen. Hope they dont make a habit of that. Im not fond of stingers.

I guess I should be honest. On my way home from the dealer I was neutral about my mini. Stuck in traffic I was wondering if this was the right choice, it was just "ok". Well it turns out the hours spent at the dealer without food was clouding my judgment. I took her out for a drive to the movies tonight and its LOVE. Pure love. How did I live without her? I wonder if I should sleep in the garage with her tonight, she may get lonely?

And thank you guys so much for the warm welcome! I can already tell I will like it here.

I think one of the coolest things about your post is that you SAVED FOR 7 YEARS (!!!) for your purchase! Talk about self-control/delayed gratification... cool!! (Also - letting go of 7 years of savings may explain your *ever-so-brief* remorse!! You won't look back as your affection continues to blossom!)

Yup. I saved slowly through a few terrible part time jobs (and one big girl job) from the time I was almost 18 till now. Still only saved enough for a huge down payment but at least I can afford monthly payments now.

It is the first car I have ever purchased as well as the largest purchase I have ever made. I had to make my dad fill in the check for me because I couldnt do it. Too traumatizing.

I am pretty sure sticker shock, an empty stomach, and downtown LA traffic are what caused the temporary insanity (aka buyers remorse). A good helping of chinese food fixed that right up.

And now because everyone was asking here is Lola! Please excuse the picture quality. The real camera's batteries were dead so my camera phone got to do the honors. Better than nothing right?

As soon as I get a chance to shop around she will have her bonnet stripes and maybe a few other exterior goodies. Dont let the camera fool you, she really is liquid yellow.

Also applaud your choice on the auto trans - makes this L.A. grind a *little* more tolerable...

Oh, lots and lots of stripe options/installers besides the dealer... be sure to check the NAM vendor sites & galleries!

I really want standard front bonnet stripes, like factory style black ones. Anyone point me in the right direction of what those would be? Its hard to tell from some of the sites.

I am thinking of putting on the star side stripes on the doors that I saw around on one of the sites. Ill try and find a pic later.

I know how you feel. I didnt have a car payment for years so when I decided to buy the MINI half the battle was coming to terms with the idea that for the next four years I would have to have a car payment. It literally took a month or two before I could just enjoy the car without thinking about monthly payments. OK, it took me minutes to forget inside the car but months to forget when I wasnt driving the car.
