Yet another newbie

Hello! :D My name is Jessica, and I'm an avid MINI enthusiast. Redundant I know, but oh well~

I live in the Louisville, KY area and have been passively looking to purchase my own MINI for about a year. Once I found out my Jeep (as lovely as he is) needed another expensive repair, I've decided it's time to retire him. I'll be purchasing a new MINI within the next few months...
I'm going for an oxygen blue (pity that they don't have a blindingly bright blue anymore, those really made me smile) with white bonnet stripes and possibly Union Jack mirror caps.

With that being said, I look forward to meeting everyone here and learning more about my future MINI.
Mind if I ask if there's things I should look out for?
Helpful tips, suggestions?
Spare change to help speed along the process? (:P Just kidding)

Thanks! Hope everyone has a fantastic day...

Congrats!! I love the Oxygen Blue, I was so upset they didn't offer it for the S model. Atomic17 posted some new pics of his Oxy Blue w/Black in the Week 11 thread

Good luck with your purchase and welcome to the MINI world!

Thank you for the kind welcome!

I had a hard time choosing between Oxygen Blue, Midnight Black and Chili Red. All three of my favourite colours! I wound up deciding to go for the blue since it stands out more to me, and quite frankly, looks more... 'playful', I suppose you could say?

Haha... I can't wait at all, really! I keep thinking of ways to get the money I need to go ahead and order him/her (haven't decided yet!)... tempted to sell my Jeep, but what to do until I get my MINI? :p

I'll definitely keep you posted.
Thanks again!!

Thank you. I was torn between Cinni MINI and this... and in the end, this overruled.

I'm a serial blue car kind of guy, so when it came to ordering my MINI, I originally was going for an S in Laser Blue (awesome color), but when I drove a JustaCooper, I realized I didn't really need the extra horsepower, and spec'd the same way, there was a $4K difference. So after reading the OxyBlue Owner's Thread numerous times (thanks again guys!) I fell head over heels for the Oxygen Blue. I realized how much I missed having a non-metallic paint (SO much easier to keep clean and heaven forbid, if you get a scratch, easier to touch up). I've only had Ianto a little less than a week, but I am crazy about the Oxy Blue (it's a little retro looking too, and since I'm an interior designer specializing in Mid-Century Modern, it SO fits!)

Things I would order again (must haves): Anthracite Headliner (makes the interior seem so much richer feeling), rear foglight (for the simple fact of filling in the toggles), HiFi sound system (this has been debated to death, but I love it), definitely the Sport Pkg too!

I could live without the Exterior Chrome Pkg, it doesn't add THAT much to the overall look. And I would get the black Bridge spoke wheels with the Sport Pkg, easier to keep clean. I've cleaned my wheels 4 times in the past 6 days

Thanks so much for the heads up! :D I'll definitely keep those in mind.

Laser blue is definitely an amazing colour, but I'll have to agree.. the oxygen blue is growing on me the more and more I see it. :D It looks excellent with both black and white roof/stripes... so I actually am having second thoughts on the colour scheme! I guess I'll see.

I'm gonna be stopping by the Cincinnati dealership sometime within the next two weeks, hopefully. I am so looking forward to it!

Right, my apologies for double-posting, but I feel the need to... well, post, and I didn't think this was good enough to make a new topic for.

So!

I went to the Cincinnati dealership yesterday. Two hours to drive up there, two hours back -- just to oogle at some MINIs. Haha. But! I saw the most amazing MINI I think I've ever witnessed there... check the attachment!

(please also keep in mind I'm an Anglophile ;P)

I was also quite charmed by the 09 I test drove. It was a CR/W hard top. That new FOB key thing is pretty snazzy, I must say...
Test driving it made me seriously debate a moment on which I thought was more appealing -- red or blue.

I do believe I'll still stick with blue, though. If I decide on getting another one down the road that one will be either black or red. :D
But... I'm excited! Even more than I was before... ugh, I want it *now*! Haha. I wouldn't have even questioned buying that 07 in the attachment if this would've been about two months in the future.

Edit: Also, something else that seriously made my day... when I was test driving the 09 I ran across someone else in a MINI going down the same road. Naturally, they waved. I waved back. It's something so simple, but it just made me swell with glee. I don't know why, but I couldn't help but grin from ear to ear.

Mid-Century Modern, well here some pics you might like. Mod and MINI GP:

Thats a Eames Eifle Base and a Venice, CA built Elephant Armshell

Item I'm stoked to have found are Eifle base chairs, LaFonda chair and at Table, Saarinan Bentwood base and Egg Shell in back, And Original Hang it all and Starburst clock (needs repair)

Photo looks like a support group meeting for agoraphobes.

"move over"-that's pretty good.

Yeah,I hosted it at my house and no one showed up?
Not surprised, they're a homley bunch of fellas.

Agoraphobia (from Greek aγορά, "marketplace"; and φόβος/φοβία, -phobia) is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to his or her home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."

Hey Agent Cooper! I ordered mine from Cincinnati MINI a couple weeks ago! I saw the one in your attachment when I was there... Sweet )

They have been great to deal with, I love Delaney! She got me a spot from a Detroit MINI dealer so I would go into production that same week! It is already in Paint and I just ordered her April 9th! I got Midnight Black with a white roof and white racing stripes! Love the Blue!!

That's really cool! Delaney is who I've been going to/talking to about getting my MINI. She's so nice.

I was actually going to call her up within this past week telling her to just take my Jeep and order my MINI, but then I found out that he DIDN'T need a new transmission... just the fluid. So he's got at least a few more months on him!

Midnight black is a lovely choice. That's great that it's already in paint.. I hope mine is as quick of a deal!
