Welcome subie,

Check out the regional forums for feedback about socal dealers - MSRP is generally the going rate, though buying from the lot is where you might find more wiggle room.

I recently ordered a Clubman - MINI marketing is big on "You-ification" (I'm willing to wait a couple months for the exact specs I want). That and demand was exceeding supply during the months when gas was around $4/gal. Production just caught up to pent up orders and dealers finally have some inventory. If you find the MINI you want - go for it.

Welcome from a fellow SoCal member! I would suggest going to Crevier Mini. Talk to Dana Eastman. I've had the best experience there. Low pressure, experienced, knowledgeable, and real enthusiast. I've been to Long Beach and it was very high pressure, typical car buying experience.

You could simply go and purchase something off the lot. However, if you're like many of us, you'll want it exactly your way. That means going special order! Good luck with your purchase and tell Dana I said hi

I think you should start with the closest dealer to you. Most will do MSRP now and you can get exactly what you want in options. As you start to nail down what options you are interested in, post the list here and you will get reasons for and against certain options.Example :Rear Fog Lights, if you don't order them, you will have a blank spot on your lower switch console. No big deal for me but some people really care about these little issues.

Yeah, unfortunatley there is a waiting list for MINIs, while most other cars are having hard time getting off the lot. Make sure you go to a dealer that does not mark-up (alot of dealers mark up $2000-3000k) if you get msrp and a set of all-weather floor mats, consider that good.

thanks for your input guys...i went to crevier mini yesterday. i should have posted this before..i got this guy "armond" or something and he was pressuring me so much to buy buy buy. i wanted to just get an idea of how the car works etc...honestly i had a very bad experience. the guy just left without even saying bye. i had to go LOOK for him...what an ***. so i left. long beach is the next mini dealer im gonna go look at.

EDIT: hey is dana eastman a guy or a girl!?!?!

as for my mini and specs:

mini cooper S
-automatic (sucks but i have to)
-lsd (should i on an auto)!!?
-HID lights.
-MAYBE the heat package.

i will be investing in an aftermarket sway or jcw sway. and of course wheels.

how much will my MINI cost do you guys think? and i hope i dont have to put in a special order... :(

Figure it to be $24,850 (non metallic paint) MSRP plus tax, licensing, etc. with the options you did list.

You cannot equip the car with an auto and LSD.
As far as heat, I do enjoy my bum to be warm in the middle of winter. I mean given we are in SoCal, if you park your car outside, then I would do it. I often leave super early in the morning and the leather can be very cold. Cloth too.
HID is a must! Once you go that route, regular halogen lighting will not do the road justice.

And I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience with that salesman. My friend had a great experience with Kirk and myself with Dana at Crevier. I've read great things about South Bay Mini. They are a vendor on this site and you can read reviews about them in the forum.

Yes. I highly recommend Chris Yuseco from South Bay Mini (located in Torrance.) Awesome MA, helps with everything and best thing, not a penny over MSRP.

lots of crap mini dealers out there charge $4k over sticker. was just at crevier today...$4000 over sticker for some bs package they throw on. bah to crevier. they are great if you want to toss $4k out the window for greed. dunno how they sell a single car...are they hoping for compulsive walk-in business? there was a yellow/blk mini listed for $38k on the lot. give me a break!

not me. South bay all the way!
