All aboard the Don Carlos!

Just found out my Baby was loaded onto the Don Carlos due to arrive @ Port Hueneme, Ca. on 9/18/08. Anyone else out there on the same voyage?

I hope so! Mine is booked for the Don Carlos. Using the WW site and checking the 'booking' link, there are 450 vehicles booked. But a terrifying number of them are asterisked as "wait listed" - thank goodness mine is not one (at least at this moment).

Update: WW Cargo History now reports my VIN as loaded on vessel. Yay!

Update 2: Bill of lading lists 502 VINs on board - nobody wait-listed. That's a lot of MINI's.

I'm starting to get freaked out by google maps and NOAA. If my MINI has to chase, outrun, or dodge hurricanes on it's way home, I think I have it's name and license plate: QUEASY.

It made it into and out of Galveston today. Now for a sprint out of the Gulf to dodge the path of Ike.

I notice the Don Carlos is scheduled into the Canal on the 9th, according to Boyd's, although it's not booked and there seems to be a backlog. That's somewhat worrying, but I don't really know how to read all the mumbo jumbo on that site. It's still scheduled into Port Hueneme on the 18th. 503 MINIs aboard and I guess I'm the only one tracking it obsessively. Fingers crossed.

Due into Port Hueneme on Thursday, the Don Carlos is stopping today in San Diego and tomorrow in Long Beach. I used the marinetraffic.com site to track the ship into San Diego harbor. Crappy webcam photo attached. I figured out how to zoom the webcam a minute later, but the ship was making good speed and passed behind some buildings before I could screencap a better shot. I did manage to zoom in and get a surprisingly clear glimpse of the ship's name to confirm the ID.

Well the Don Carlos has docked at Port Hueneme. Our MINIs will shortly embark on the last leg of their journey home to their expectant owners.

either of you had your cars released from the VDC yet? I made travel plans to be in Vegas this weekend, but so far my Clubman has not shipped from Hueneme to the dealer! It was scheduled to leave yesterday but now it's up in the air and my MA doesn't know when it's going to leave.

Hmmm. I got my call yesterday. I asked for confirmation while making the final arrangements that it was onsite and undamaged, as I have to rejigger an already booked flight to have a different terminus and I get charged a bundle every time I do that.

I have no VDC-installed options, so it may have caught an early transport out and is now waiting in storage for me. The MA said it would be kept in storage so no one would be touching it. In a way, too bad - maybe I could have talked you into taking a cellphone pic of my boring white-on-white tatertot

But my appointment isn't until Oct 7th (I'm travelng back East) so I suppose it's possible he may have been more reassuring than factual, given the extra slack in my schedule.

Owner's lounge still says mine is at VDC, but we know how up-to-the-minute that is!
